Reading all the responses and everyone's point of view on this is extremely interesting. I have heard so many people say that they don't feel sorry for BDJ. The fact is that he was a human who's life was cut short. Just as Naz said, he was misunderstood. I think a lot of people in society are misunderstood and we don't recognize it. We immediately write them off as bad people. So many of us learn our behaviors through our support. If he didn't have good support, he probably isn't going to make the best choices. He was a very talented player that probably used basketball as a way out of a bad environment, like many athletes do. Unfortunate to see any person pass at such a young age. Rip Bryce.

Went & checked out Pelicans SBNation site this afternoon. Article on BDJ had 13 comments. 13! On the death of a current player! Can you imagine the response on here or WRNL if a current ISU player died like that?

When an ISU player dies, we tend to highlight and criticize for all the mistakes he made in his life.

Tragedy beyond comprehension, but if the Register article portrays the facts correctly, that he was out for a late walk and thought his gf ( or estranged acquaintance as one source reported) locked him out so he responded by kicking doors down-it sounds like maybe he didn't get all his personal issues take care of.

I know people who have broken into their own house because they locked themselves out. Don't think the evidence proves he was going to do anything to her.

It really was mainly one who has a history of being an ***hole anyway. It's just that his repeated post after post made it seem like a bunch. Sure, some weren't very sympathetic, but it was mainly one that was over the top dooshy.
Going to HN is like opening the lid on a porta potty and climbing into the poop tank. Just why, man? :wideeyed:

I have broken into my own home for that very reason. That's being stupid. And I have never broken into yours. Because that would be criminal. If you cannot separate the difference between one from the other, then maybe you shouldn't comment on this subject anymore.

Not exactly sure.
I like the logic here. So, if I get drunk and think I'm humping my wife, it doesn't count if it's an affair if I think it's her. Sweet!!

Out of curiosity I went over to HN to get the hawkeye fan point of view. Expected to see of lot of "set the rivalry aside, this is a tragedy". But, I should have known better. Of course, I also read some pretty deplorable statements made on this forum as well.

Out of morbid curiosity I had to check it out...I did get a kick out of the numbnuts trying to make the argument that this is an indictment of the ISU hoops program :twitcy:

No matter what happened leading up to it, it's a very sad deal. Feel bad for everyone involved, including the apartment owner. RIP BDJ

I was looking tributes.com for the obituary of an old acquaintance, and across the top it says "National Obituary News" and has a picture of BDJ at the top! That's how I found out!
