What's happened to Aunt Maudes? Not for the good.

Food trucks are overrated.
not all food trucks are equal but in general they are the only type of food service that gets 5* reviews. My guess is because servers are taken completely out of the equation. I have only been to ricos tacos in Ames which I highly recommend. I think there are more trucks around campus?

I was just joking around. But seriously I'd just rather go to a restaurant for the price instead of standing on the sidewalk eating. I'm long over food trucks.

If we are complaining about restaurants changing, I'd like to be upset about Wallabys leaving West Ames.

I'd like to be upset about Wallaby's moving too, but I think they have made a very nice upgrade in facilities in Somerset.

In other good news, there is a new Sports Page Bar and Grill being built in the old Wallaby's location. Glad to see this investment in West Ames.

The quarterly cf food critics thread. I bet most of you eat at mcdonalds more than once a week.

The cafe is still a great option. Most my friends say it's the best restaurant in Ames. Same owners as Maudes I believe

Bob and Pat have a long time relationship in the food business, having been paired together at O'Malley's. Bob also opened O'Malley's in Jacksonville, FL. He sold his interest in Maude's some years back. I believe he is looking into a new location near Workiva?

Besides the chicken strips cheese balls and ice cream hickory park sucks. There's nothing special about the place. And how does the biggest restaurant in Ames not have TVs?

If you want to watch tv, stay home. Eating out is about being social. You know, talking to people? Unless you are going out to watch a sports event you don't have access to.

I was feeling guilty that my son graduated from ISU and I never got him to Aunt Maude's. It was a great place when I was a student back in the middle ages and Johnny called me "coach" there once. Sounds like it was just as well we never went there.

Makes me sad though, it was an Ames institution. I like both the old and new Wallaby's. Maybe I am just not very picky, although all I have ever eaten from The Cafe was a box lunch thing at a conference and I was not a fan. The name seems kind of high falutin for this old lady.
