I thought we should get a thread going for the Draft with it being tonight and all. Where do you think if/when/where Georges is going? Who gets taken 3rd after Simmons and Ingram? What are some big trade possibilities? Any other general discussion. I think this will be a very interesting and constantly moving draft with all the potential for trades and what not, so let me know what you all are thinking.

I'm far from an expert, but this seems like a horrible draft. I think Simmons is far from the sure-shot that people once thought he was, and Ingram's frame scares me a bit. From there, there is just so much risk with every pick. Do you know what your getting with Brown or Hield? Can Dunn do what he did in college against better athletes? Do you reach on a prospect like Chriss?

It is a weak draft beyond Simmons and Ingram but there is some potential with guys like Dunn and Chris and Bender. I think all of those guys have the potential to be really good. I think Hield and Murray are guys that can play important roles for a team as shooters off the bench. It will be interesting to see if Boston makes any trades. Seems like they really want Butler and have been interested in Love.

Here's the latest Mock Draft on CBS from Parrish (He's got a bit off on here though):

Draft Express for comparison:

Hield going to Minnesota would really be icing on the cake with all of their moves over the last few years.

Taurean and Cheick are also project first round. I don't see Niang getting on the board but if he goes we're likely looking at him as a late 2nd round pick-up.

If the T'Wolves draft Buddy, I'll be thrilled. A lineup including KAT, Wiggins, Rubio, and Lavine plus Hield coming off the bench as a sniper would be great. Still need to figure some things out defensively, but Thibs is probably the best defensive coach in the world, so I'd assume there would be some improvement there.

It's not an amazing draft but it is definitely not horrible. There are two elite guys in Simmons and Ingram but maybe 10-15 more guys that should be contributors and a good number of other guys that will stick on rosters. And the NBA doesn't pay their high picks enough for them to be really risky. Teams aren't make or break based on how one guy develops in Year One.

I agree completely. Having a sharp shooter who doesn't necessarily need to do much more than shoot from the 3-point line and play solid defense is exactly what the T-Wolves need. That being said, I would be completely content with either Hield, Dunn, or Murray, all are solid, and can be molded into what Thibs wants, I believe.

No doubt the Wolves need shooting but, I think Murray should be the choice over Hield. His ability to play some point and his size are in his favor. Credit Heild to build his game but is 22 Murray put up similar numbers in year 1 at 19.
BTW I think Thibs wants Dunn over both if he gets past Boston.

Boston's been working hard to include the third overall pick as part of a package in exchange for an established veteran. No takers yet, but we'll see. Rumors are just that, but for what it's worth the Celtics have mentioned in connection with Kevin Love, Khris Middleton, Jimmy Butler, Gordon Hayward, Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel.

Yeah, I heard this as well. And if Thibs likes what he sees and thinks he can make him the type of player he wants, then I am all for it. I love the way Dunn plays, some people knock the decision making in college (shots, etc.) but I think that was a product of the team he was on, it was him and Ben Bentil. Sometimes you just have to try and take over a game. So I am all for a Dunn get, if he is there for the taking.

The thing about Murray is he lacks the athleticism to play point and defend the point and isnt' a great distributor. He doesn't have great quickness. Hield is the better all around athlete and has the potential to play better defense than Murray. I think neither are going to be stars but I would take Hield bc I think he gives you just little more than being only a shooter and nothing else.

By the way has anyone seen the workout videos with Embiid? Holy cow the guy looks like a giant. he has grown to 7'2. If he is healthy this year the Sixers fortunes may finally start turning around. Obviously they have faith in him being healthy or they wouldn't be shopping Okafor and Noel.

I'm sick of that troll. I'd be happy if he never saw the floor in an NBA jersey.

I think Hield is getting knocked on only being a shooter, but that seems unfair. He's a pretty good athlete, and the guy competes hard. There's a good place in this league for guys who can hit 3s, defend a bit and play really hard.

Could be chaos after the second pick since nobody knows if Boston will keep it or trade out for someone else. Either way should be an entertaining draft after the first two are off the board. I hope Georges goes somewhere but I would bet he goes undrafted and signs with someone as a FA.
