Been trying to decide between some Bose Q35 NC headphones ($350) or the new Sony MDR 1000 NC ($400). Tested them both at Best Buy and like the Sony better but didn't want to pay full retail.

Today I saw that the Sony's went down to $350 on Amazon so I pulled the trigger.

Sounds like you've already jumped, but I had the Bose headphones and got these as a gift recently. I've now put the Bose in the drawer as these sound much better.

Interesting. These I'm buying are for my wife but I'll have to check them out in case I ever need any. Right now I have some Audio Technic M50's that I like but they don't have active noise canceling.
