if you held a gun to my head, I'd put my money on prequel remakes happening someday.
I hope one day they make a movie on the old republic and The old sith empire. I always enjoyed the old Knights of the old republic games and Revan was a badass.
Just think of what those battles would look like. An army of Jedi vs an army of Sith using what ever force abilities they have!

I hate to break it to all you guys that want the prequels to be remade, but it isn't happening. especially as long as Disney still owns the property, which I anticipate will be into perpetuity. All said and done, if Disney was going to redact the prequels from canon, they would have done it when they originally bought it in 2012. That was their opportunity, and it isn't like they didn't take that opportunity to remove a ton of other things from canon which didn't include the prequels. In fact, all books, comics, movies... etc. outside of the original 6 saga movies and the two animated TV shows (Clone Wars and Rebels) were all single-handedly wiped from canon by Disney once they bought it. Shoot, they even wiped out the Ewok movies. Therefore, if it was going to get done, Disney had their opportunity and they opted not to. With that said, everything moving past the acquisition is also a part of canon and they've even doubled down in a lot of regards by adding books and comics all around the prequel movies.
So you are telling me they removed parts from the "canon" once but there is not a way for them to do it again? If Disney thinks it it will make enough money for them, they'll adjust whatever they see fit. Heck, Wilford Brimley might offer them enough money from his Quaker Oats and Liberty Medical checks that they even put him back in.

When it comes to something like Star Wars, change isn't easy, but it is easiest when a major shift like change of ownership happens, which is what they did, and I'm glad they did. Combine that with the fact that they are doubling-down by constantly adding additional content all around the prequels and that is only reinforcement that they have zero intention of eliminating the prequels. The Clone Wars TV show is pretty beloved by now as well. Shoot, there is even talk of bringing Ewan McGregor back for a solo Obi-Wan movie as one of those possible future planned spin-off movies.
I'm not sure I'd sign up for a Ewan McGregor/Obi-Wan movie. I like McGregor and all, but I don't like something about that character/actor combo. Probably the prequel ****.
I would however sign up for a post ROTS Vader movie. Who wouldn't?

Yeah everything before Bane and the rule of two is non canon. After TWA is non cano alson.Bane would kick his ass. Is he still Canon? Better be.

I would however sign up for a post ROTS Vader movie. Who wouldn't? I wonder if they would ever do something like that though. Part of me thinks if a movie like that were in the works, that would mean the franchise was tanking, and the thinking would be only Vader could bring it back.
I've never read Lords of the Sith but heard it's great. Has anyone here read it? Would it translate to a movie well?
Hey, nerds. I haven't ever watched Star Wars. What order would you like me to watch them in knowing that Rogue One will have to be last. Do I go with release or actual order of events?
I don't disagree with your premise, but your rationale that "Disney won't do it because they didn't throw out prequel canon when they had the chance" doesn't convince me of anything. Prequels could be remade without impacting any cannon. It's not like the general Clone Wars and Anakin Skywalker stories can be changed.
They had to throw out all the existing Expanded Universe canon if they wanted the new films to follow a new story arch. There was way too much existing storylines that could conflict.
So, while I think the probability of remakes is low, I would never say never especially if Disney ever finds Star Wars in a bit of a rut financially.
Honestly? And you just want to enjoy them and some good movie time?
Then do this order:
1. Rogue One
2. Episode 4 (A New Hope)
3. Episode 5 (Empire Strikes Back)
4. Episode 6 (Return of the Jedi)
5. Episode 7 (The Force Awakens)
Then in 6 mos to a year when you're really bored some Saturday....set your brain aside and set up some preconceived notions. The prequels sucks and Lucas was smoking some really good crack when he made them. They suck but I want to just watch them to see the back story to Anakin.....god no, screw it. Don't watch em, pretend the prequels never existed.
