Would really be something if UT pulls off this game in Waco to throw things around a bit.

Baylor is a tough out. They are so damn long. I'm not sure where Drew finds these kids. But he sure does develop them into Baylor quality athletes. I'm impressed, frankly. There's no coach who gets more crap from fans but wins more games doing it than Drew. I'm a fan.

Texas' offensive game plan would best be described as "aimless". They look like they have no idea what they plan to do to score. Baylor was OK lsst night but Texas is next lwvel terrible.

I keep waiting for Texas to 'find it' and impress. They seem to have some speed and ability but forget what they're doing.

The Texas team I saw in the Octagon was not very good. Omaha would have beat them that day. They were both disorganized and soft. I don't see that changing much over the season.

They almost beat KSU didn't they?

No, coach Weber always pulls his starters as games wind down in State's favor. It wasn't close all day. UT jacked some threes at the end to make it seem that way though. K-State was up 10 at the 2 min mark. Won by three.

If you have your starters in the last 10 minutes and only beat a team by 3 at home I probably wouldn't talk about how bad or soft they are

The game was never in doubt. I did make a mistake saying subs were in when that wasn't the fact. Old brain. I said at the time here that I couldn't imagine UT winning a conference game they were so pathetic that day.

  1. Ku
  2. Baylor
  3. WVU
  4. Iowa State
  5. Tech
  6. K-State
  7. TCU
  8. OU
  9. Texas
  10. oSu
Thursday morning following OU's win over WVU re-sorts the ranks. Seems today that Ku and Baylor will fight it out for the top spot. The next 6 will beat up on one another, thus no clue how that ranking will look by tournament time. And orange is a complete fail this year regardless the shade.

WVU was in a great spot to challenge Kansas for the conference title, but then they lose at home to a bottom 3 team. To unseat KU you have to be damn near perfect against everyone else. And I doubt Baylor is going to do it... before too long they'll lose in Waco to someone they shouldn't.

Have said before, do not like pressing teams. They do that to make up for shortfalls in other areas. And in so doing, put themselves at considerable disadvantage when playing squads that can handle the ball and finish. ISU should handle WVU in Ames, for sure.

Id probably swap KSU and Tech, but other than that, I agree.

To take the title from KU you have to able to win in a variety of ways. There are too many great coaches in the Big 12 to make it through 18 games in 1st place if you're a one trick pony.

West Virginia is a one trick pony every year with their crash the boards/swarming press style. It's a hard shtick to beat but it is beatable.

Baylor is a one trick pony this year with their length on offense and numbing zone defense. Again, a hard shtick to beat but it's beatable.

KU can beat you uptempo. They can beat you grinding it out. They can rebound. Score inside. Score outside. Score in transition and in the half court. It's their balance and ability to win in multiple ways that makes them best equipped to come out of the 18 game gauntlet at the top.

When other teams in the Big 12 have similar abilities, they have been serious challengers for the Big 12 title. All four of the non-KU teams that have won a share of the Big 12 title recently have had that same balance and variety.

I think the team that finally unseats KU will have to beat them at home and in AFH. ISU lost that chance last week. Baylor and WVU still have a chance, but WVU cant have any more hiccups. Baylor problem is they go to AFH after KU plays at WVU and at Kentucky.
