There it is.We don't know what conversations that Prohm and Holden were having, very likely Prohm was expressing that from day 1 but Holden thought he could do more thus lost some of Prohms trust after the first 10 games.
Great stuff, Jared.
I like Holden's ability to alter shots at the hoop and his aggressiveness on the offensive glass. Prohm will have to keep shuffling Holden/Bowie/Young depending on matchups, but it looks like roles are being solidified. If Holden can do what he did Saturday, it gives us a little more versatility.
Somewhat related note: Bowie's body language and behavior was embarrassing at OU. He sat most of the second half with a towel over his head. During timeouts, he was not in the huddle and would sit before the team broke the huddle. At one point late in the game during a timeout, David Hobbs, the special assistant to Prohm (was head coach at Alabama in the '90s) snatched the towel off Bowie's head and threw it behind the bench. Bowie reacted with words to Hobbs, who didn't respond. I was happy to see Hobbs throw down some old school toughness on Bowie's childish behavior. After the game was over, the seniors celebrated enthusiastically while Bowie and Young immediately walked off the court. I'll be interested to see if Bowie starts tomorrow night or at least has a shorter leash.
Man, if that isn't coaching in a nutshell.... you just get one guy to 'come around' to how you want him to play and then you have another with this behavior you speak of. I hope its nothing more than an isolated incident or frustration. Kinda bothers me you saying that freshmen Young immediately walked off the court with him, too, and didn't join in the celebration...if what you say is accurate, that is. I hope its not the other two guys thinking Holden got to play for the wrong reasons or something. Need to get on a roll and all players are needed and important when their time comes...now isn't the time to be selfish. They wouldn't be alone when it comes to questioning their coach, so hopefully it works itself out. KState is all we care about right now. Need to get this one.
I agree with the sentiment but think fans probably need to not be the ones making judgement. We take one instance and decide a player has a bad attitude. Maybe Bowie was frustrated with himself. ....
Agree with fans role deciding player attitudes, but with the way Solar was describing the situation, it sounds like we had an experienced member of the coaching staff who had seen enough.
I hope CPS lets Bowie sit on the bench with his towel for a few games. We don't need this kind of crap, especially since he hasn't brought that much to the floor the last five games or so.
What crap has Bowie brought? Did I miss something?
Props to Holden and Prohm for getting on the same page. Hopefully it means we get more positive contributions going forward.
That said, these conversations need to successfully happened a lot closer to Day 1. As the messenger it's largely on Prohm to have all of his players know what he needs from them and how they can accomplish that.
I'm pretty sure they have the talk, but that doesn't mean a 20 something athlete is going to listen. It took McKay forever to learn, hopefully Holden retains it the first time. No matter how rocky the road what counts is March and the first weekend of April. This team could still do well later in the season if we get to the sweet 16/elite 8 I'll be happy. But right now I just hope they keep doing the right things and make the tourney.
Yes someone saw him with a towel over his head on Saturday and suddenly he is a cancer to the team.
If we get to the Elite Eight you will be happy?!?! That seems a bit understated.

A lot of good players demonstrate frustrations on the bench. As long as he plays well WGAF?
