Whenever I see this thread back on the front page, I am always apprehensive about opening it just in case there was a relapse. But, so far, I've opened it and just been like "Yeah, buddy!". As others have said, even though I don't know this person, I feel like I do and am so happy to get the updates. Keep fighting the good fight.

Congrats on the success! My dad drank heavily after my mom divorced him. I had some resentment mainly due to promises and obligations that he would fail to keep when I was a kid because of his drinking. My dad was a great man, but he could never get much of a handle on his drinking issues for longer than a few months before he'd end up back at it.

Had he not been an alcoholic, I believe he would still be here today, and would have gotten to see my son who is nearly 17th months old. That's one of the few things in my life that really tugs at me...

I don't know anything about your family and friend situation, but I'm sure they are so proud of you for what you have gone through the last year and half to change your life for the better.

Hi guys. Two years sober. :)

I'll probably stop posting in here as much because there aren't many temptations left I haven't faced and my personal updates are pretty boring now! Thanks again for all your well wishes and support. As always, my "door" is always open to continue conversations about quitting.

I would encourage you to keep providing update. It might seem boring at the moment and you don't think you need the support, but there are a lot of people pulling for you and want you to succeed and would go out of their way to help you in any way they can when you need them.

Also, seeing his success could help motivate someone else give up their vices.

three years.

it's second-nature now. it's never too late to make the right decision.

Congratulations!

Has dropping a bad habit led to any interesting new habits? Personally I'm trying to play this out in my head; if I had to give up one of my routines I imagine I'd need to replace it with something else to help keep me focused.
