Hello I'm new here. Like I mentioned in my intro thread my wife and myself are from Tennessee and have been season ticket holders there for a number of years. Moved out here for faculty positions at ISU over the spring. I couldn't beleive the price of the mini pack. Still can't. I got the 3 game pack for $99. That's not a scam correct? $99 for 3 games? 2 in state teams and a conference opponent? Are single game tix usually this cheap as well?

Correct, it's not a scam. In regards to seat prices there are different prices points depending on where you are sitting. There'll probably be some promotions for a game or two later in the season.

I think they are also cheap because ISU has been pretty smart. With bad teams you need to keep the crowds coming and not trying to maximize revenue in the short run. Keeping the prices low keeps people coming and hopefully becoming fans and increasing future demand.

I know a ton of UNI grads and they are almost all bigger hawk fans than panther fans... the term panther hawks exists for a reason.

Then there is the "pseudo-Panther anti-Clone Hawk" like one of my relatives from eastern Iowa. He graduated from UNI but has flat out told me that he always roots for the Hawks when they play the Panthers, and the only time he bothers to root for the Panthers is when they play the Clones. There are a good number of this sort of creature in the 319 and 563 area codes.

I never understood why this upsets people. There are plenty of ISU fans that never went to or graduated from ISU, do we hate them too? I just think it's a little short sighted to assume every fan of every team has to have some relationship to the school they root for.

A know several people that never went to ISU but LOVE, LOVE ISU basketball but don't follow ISU football (for obvious reasons......) Some teams have more fans that don't have a tie to the school they cheer for I just think people here over look the fact that we have plenty of ISU fans that don't have a single tie to the school either.

I'm trying to collect enough from all of you to not appear naive, so forgive me.
My wife and I both graduated from Iowa State and have 3 kids. Much like 95% of the general population, weekends are a disaster and once school starts, sporting events fill Saturday. Against UNI, it is a Saturday night and youth sports haven't start yet. My kids are now at the age where we would be bad parents if we dont get them to a game. UNI is the best chance to attend a game. Again, Youth Sports quickly start up, then before you know I am full radio mode via combine to the later half.

Question, On August 17th at 10:00am, can I buy 5 single game tickets to UNI or will the game be sold out before it even opens up. I am not any club member or anything like that. Just a fan who wants to take his kids to a game? What is my best route? I'm not too intrigued with buying a Pack and reselling those I cant attend which is probably the other 2.

A scalper onsite is your best bet. That game will sell out in 10 minutes or less.
Without being a club member, your priority level is so low there won't be anything left, much left a group of 5.

The ticket exchange here would be the 2nd best choice.

In either case, expect to pay a pretty penny. Demand is really high for that game.

If you know season ticket holders/donors ask them to buy them for you. Beat the rush and probably get a little better seating.

Well, we have only won 11 games in 4 years. Can't be all that surprising we would have cheap football tickets.

For all the complaints about the mini pack it did convince me to get tickets. As a recent graduate I couldn't commit to season tickets but was able to commit to the mini pack. I think it is good to keep the current students as ticketholders once they graduate.
Mini packs can be thought of as a gateway drug for your Cyclone fix. Eventually 3 won't be enough and they will already have their hooks in you. It's just good marketing.

I get it a little bit. But to be fair there is some difference between the Cyclone fan who never attended college that you describe and the squawk fan who attended UNI that the other posters where talking about.

This may be a dumb question that's been answered already, but are these actual tickets? If I couldn't make one of the game in this, I could sell it unlike the mobile pass, correct?

False analogy.

We LOVE ISU fans who didn't go to ISU.

We just hate purplehawks. I've got nothing against someone who went to Luther or Central or didn't go to college cheering for Iowa. That's nothing like the duplicitous taints from UNI who are actually all hawk fans.

Looking at ordering a couple Mini-pack tickets after talking my wife into going to a few games. It looks like if I order them online, ticketmaster will tack on $25 worth of service charges. If I call the ticket office tomorrow, will they charge me this fee? The whole idea of Ticketmaster just pisses me off.

Ticketmaster will get their cut in both situations.

You can sell the mobile pass also. It is just a barcode. I had the mobile pass last year and I would screen shot the bar codes and text one to the other person with me. I sold the tickets to one game I was unable to make and just texted them the bar codes when I got them. It worked perfectly.
