Baylor hired his AAU coach. Wall was going to play for Calipari at Memphis, but ultimately went to Kentucky with him. Frank Haith at Miami was one of the other finalists.

This was back in 09. How far do you think they're going to go back?
I would guess 5 years, but who knows. Will be interesting to see how all of this unfolds.

President Leath sounds a little too comfortable when it comes to being investigated:

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...50/the-story-how-fbi-brought-words-corruption

Auburn president Steven Leath told ESPN that he received a call Monday night and was advised that an FBI agent wanted to meet with Leath the next morning, without any indication of what the meeting was about. Leath said he wasn't worried, because he assumed it had to do with his security clearance related to certain projects and research work on campus -- not about athletics.

One thing is certain, he wasn't flying prospects in himself, they want them to live to commit.

That actually could be true. Just because the FBI comes to see you doesn't always mean it is bad.

Not joking

Dicky V on the phone on espn right now saying he wont name names but one of the guys arrested is singing like a bird and many more people are going down. Ill put money on its the rifleman
Jay Bilas said the same thing this morning on Mike and Mike.

I doubt they know anything about what these coaches are saying. This isn't some NCAA investigation with 50 leaks and inside sources. This is the freaking FBI. I doubt they would look kindly on leaked info. I doubt Jay and Dicky V have sources in the FBI.

It would all be blamed on a few dirty assistants. Head coaches, schools and the NCAA will find a way to distance themselves from the dirty. They had no knowledge, and the dirty assistants acted independently.

Pitino already got fired..... Again, this isn't an NCAA investigation, I don't know why people keep saying "The NCAA wont do anything to the blue bloods". This is the FBI. Thy don't give a **** who yo are.

That already is not true. Louisville has cleaned house and auburn Is waving the white flag. Alabama lost a compliance Guy after An "internal review."

Lots Of things yet to fall
Not completely done at Louisville yet...I'd expect the fight between Louisville lawyers and the coaches lawyers to be a battle to the death. His buyout right now is $41 million...but who knows what is written into the contract. The splatter from that battle will be massive.

That's not why I think that... What I meant by it was that the blue bloods will still get the best prospects and little will actually change with the system. The 5 stars still have to go somewhere to play...

Not exactly sure.

If hiring hookers for recruits doesn't get you in trouble, wonder if a fine does. He's on unpaid leave so if no negative action happens he can comeback.

Exactly, that's a big sword hanging over Louisville's neck...more than 50% of Louisville's entire annual athletic budget. And they would still need to hire a new coach...who will not come cheap.

If you do it right you can be the beneficiary of such shoe company deals without breaking any rules. If a Nike guy just goes straight to the player, gives him $100k with no UK assistant involved in the process then UK has done nothing wrong. If the ncaa found out, they could take the Duke/Myron Piggie plea and claim they had no knowledge of it. Voila. They just have to tell the Nike guys to keep them and their assistant coaches out of the conversation directly.
This is a little different. This is federal law enforcement. If Nike is paying the players or paying assistants to pay the players, it is probably some type of bribery. If a couple of these events are proven to be crimes, that is when the NCAA can come in a issue the "lack of institutional control" thing. Maybe I'm misunderstanding this but this seems to be the course this could take.

This story is the gift that keeps on giving.

Cripes people. There's been hundreds of posts since this image was posted and not one person said "would" or "wood". I'm really disappointed.

Do I really need to quit my job, skip my kids' sporting events and stop sleeping just to stay here and monitor you all to make sure you're all continuing with our long-standing traditions?
