Saw a guy last night that I only know extremely casually. His wife used to work as a cook a couple of night a week at a friends bar.
I just waved hello and he walked over shook hands and I said "how are you?" as people often do. He told me his wife packed up and left him on Tuesday while he was at work. He said he didn't have any hint and that they had just had their 10 year anniversary the week before. He has no clue where she went. Fortunately no children.
Needless to say I was feeling pretty small and not just because he is 6'8"

Ouch. I seem to be pulled into those conversations also. A small citchat and next thing you know you're hearing a life story. Got corned at an anniversary party for a friend of MIL at a bar. My former secretarys husband cornered me and talked about how he was shocked that she left him. This was an obvious one coming. She complained to me at times and I thought she was humping the guy she took off with. I had to play dumb especially when he said his kids saw it coming.

We learned our lesson from last year and started asking Z what she wanted to be for Halloween the last few days. We now have Marshall the pup on our house. It was so nice to easily find what she liked I her size.

I won like 3 Amazon gift cards reading CF this morning! Had to switch browsers so I could let someone else win one for once.

Went to the HS football game last night (only stayed through halftime). We used to have a really good football team the last few years, but all the athletic football players are gone. We had guys that walked on at ISU or play at Grandview. I think in a few years we should have some football talent again.

Not sure if it is fairly typical to have football players on the Homecoming court, but ours had none. The two senior athletes on the court were a golfer (3A state champion last year) and a baseball player (being recruited by D1 schools). I really didn't know the kids crowned King and Queen. Our freshman didn't even vote because she didn't know any, either.

A long time ago it was only football players on my old high schools homecoming court.

My rain magnet super powers are still intact and work in the fall. Confirmed.

Cool, windy and a little wet today riding. Passed a gal with tunes playing, Summer Breeze by Seals and Croft. That sing is a lie!

I guessed wrong, too.
She's still wearing the costume. She may wear it until Halloween, maybe longer.

No Zombie Patrol?

Tried to take a nap today
5 minutes in -- kid bangs loudly on wall
8 minutes in -- wife blow dries hair in adjacent bathroom
12 minutes in -- wife enters room and rummages through a plastic bag looking for something.
15 minutes in -- give up.

Oh well. It was a noble attempt.

You were woken up by a plastic bag?

Tomorrow kicks off the Salvation Army's Angel Tree drive for the year which starts with our toy run for them. I saw the Big Lots near me has 20% off your entire purchase tomorrow. Score
