Second faucet's handle was also shot. Wife said they need to be replaced before new owners move in. Went to Lowes, bought two new faucets, and will install them tomorrow. Wife asked if we needed to get a plumber to install them and I just laughed. They cost me $59 a piece and I can install them myself. I don't even want to think what a plumber would charge.

Around here they are billing labor at $95/hour. I can only imagine what they get in Texas.....everything's bigger there, you know.....

Not exactly sure.

Can't be worse than the old guy who I hired last year a couple times. Basically I did the work while he told me what to do the first time. The second time, I expected this and was ready and turns out I got drug to another job site to help him out. That was not fun.

We survived the first Homecoming dance. Told hubby this was just the 1st of potentially 16 (or more!) Homecoming dances. Observations--Moore Park (north of Veenker) was the popular photo spot for freshmen. Also popular was Ada Hayden park. The upperclassmen go on campus for pictures. Pictures start ridiculously early so people can then go eat. Thankfully her group just did pizza at a friend's. Since the 4 girls that went together were all 14 they had to get a ride there. One of the girl's dad has a Shelby Mustang so they had a cool ride.

The way the wife was talking the other day, I think she volunteered us to chaperone post prom. First, she can't stay awake much past 9:30. Second, this is usually in the middle of planting, which means zero sleep. Homecoming isn't big here. Son didn't go to the dance, daughter did I think. Sons friends from college were home and he hung with them.

If I was you, I would have found a reason that I needed a ride somewhere just to get into the Shelby.

We didn't realize Homecoming was such a big production here. Then there is a winter formal which is girls ask boys, so maybe we can get out of that one. ;) And hopefully we have a couple years before we have to worry about prom.

My mom always said W.P.A. was the girls opportunity to get Prom dates.

Oh yeah, I wasn't thinking about evals, I was thinking about someone sending an actual email

Touche. I drifted off topic by then.
Haven't seen anyone actually send e-mails during the grading period. People prefer to get away from everything related to finals week by then. E-mails after grades happen, both good and bad, but before is rare.

Sounds like hawkeye advice.
BIL stayed with us this weekend with his young children. We went to a pumpkin patch/corn maze (obviously, there were a lot of kids there aged 12 and younger). One lady was there wearing a shirt that read "If you ain't a Hawkeye, you ain't worth sh*t".

I think that safely means the Tavernhok generalization safely carries over into Minnesota.

I never heard the term homecoming until I went to ISU. I had no idea what people were talking about.

You really should have thanked her for finally recognizing that Hok fans are worth ****.

Homecoming isn't big here.
It's homecoming week at our high school. Our high school cancelled its homecoming dance a few years ago due to the behavior of the kids and hasn't started the tradition back up. I guess we can call it being VEISHEA'd.

I know I may mention the athletic side here but figure it's may be more interesting than saying my son got a 92 on his chem test and just couldn't nail down the fifth electron orbit....

...The football coach made fun of academics in a parent meeting, been coaching 50 years, 10 years too long.
My high school chemistry teacher was a physics teacher who continually made fun of chemists. He method for remembering the orbits was "Super Physicists Don't Find Gold in Chemist's Kitchens". It's scary that I still remember that but it was certainly an effective teaching tool. I probably should have brought this up to you before your son's test. Also, maybe this wasn't what the test was about.

My daughter's tennis team's chief fundraiser is selling softener salt. It's a combined effort with the football team. For pick up, we drive to the high school and the football team loads the bags for us. Last time, we ended up with 4 extra bags of salt. When our daughter told the tennis coach about it he said, "Just keep the bags. It's not our fault that football players don't know how to count."

I would have walked up to the lady and said thanks for the compliment.

Good luck with the Prom situation. Our freshman daughter is vocal enough that she probably scares off possible suitors. I have no idea where she got her blunt and I don't care what you think attitude from, real mystery there.

Turns out the son is still with his gf. Tried to give outs and not push, she even confronted my wife. Wish she would have asked me what my thoughts were.

Morning off to a good start. Couldn't figure out why wife left me her work vehicle. (With a pickup in shop, I drive whatever to the farm where I have the chore truck). So I jump in and a whole lot of clicking when I turn the key. Charger does not help. Got to track down a new battery, fun times. Borrowed moms car since no other car was around.
