Is this for real??

I was hoping Noland was better than that at this point. In fact, I wanted Zeb to start Saturday and pull off the huge upset and take over the starting job for the rest of the year.

IMO, if Park did what is being rumored on here, I don't know how he can still be a captain? What are requirements for being a captain if you can violate team rules and still keep it?

Also, isn't leaving Park alone back in Ames for a Friday and Saturday a bad move? I'd have him make the trip and not dress, and hold a clipboard on the sideline. Stay involved with the team.

IMO, Park just isn't one of the "leaders" on this team anymore going forward. Sure he's the starting QB, but that doesn't automatically make you one of the team leaders. Leaders lead by example.

Annually, about Week 4-6, Cyclones fans tend to turn on their QB. It happens every year where we think our QB is going to be the best thing since Seneca Wallace, and within 4 weeks, we are screaming for the backup.

Leading up to the Texas game we were all looking at that night as a huge turning point game on national TV for us to show the nation who we were and that we were a new and improved Iowa State.

But instead, we s**t the bed and went right back to being the same old Iowa State again in one week's time. We trotted out the one of the worst secondary logos in the country that everyone on social media has been laughing at, we wore possibly our worst uniform combo that night, we came out and on our first drive with a 3rd and 1, and actually dropped back to throw and got sacked, we had our DE doing somersaults and snow angels ON THE FIELD after a crucial 3rd down stop, we punted several times inside Texas' 40 yd line- including one from their 33 yd line, we had our starting QB and head coach yelling at one another on the sideline.... and then to top it off we had our starting QB violate team rules in the days after this wonderful night, and now he won't be making the trip for the OU game.

Talk about taking a huge opportunity to possibly turn that corner and leave the "old" ISU football behind us.... and instead completely blowing it on EVERY level and instead reminding the entire country that we're still a complete nobody, and not only that, pretty much still a laughing stock. What a great week it's been.

Good thing we have Kansas coming up.

We're going to win 72-3.

Clonedude wetting himself again.

The UT game was just one loss against a mediocre, but more talented team. It was never going to be a turning point in which nothing bad happens and we win out thereafter, even with a win. All that other stuff doesn't matter and the game against OU was always going to be a loss.

Last week was disappointing and Park may not be the leader a marginally talented team like ISU needs, but most programs fall short against OU and players violating team rules happens everywhere.

As an outsider, I believe the UT game was a bit of a turning point/indicator, just as it is tomorrow for my team, K-State. Had ISU beat the Longhorns in Ames, it would have painted a very different picture for the season, regardless the loss potential in Norman. The UT game was far more reflective of where ISU is/was than tomorrow's. I'll grant you that much.

All the overreactions are getting annoying. Texas was not a turning point if we won and nationally, the story would not have been "wow look at ISU" it would have been, "looks like Texas still has a long way to go". This was pushed by CW and others in the media, it just wasn't true.

We are way overreacting to that loss, along with almost everything over the past week, and that personal foul call on Bailey (though unnecessary, wasn't even that bad and ref could have let it go, was a big deal cause they scored on the drive, otherwise forgettable).

Park had a bad game and clearly they need to get something straightened out internally with him but now everyone is jumping to the conclusion that he's terrible, a poor leader, and Campbell has lost control of the locker room.

FWIW my opinion of what will happen tomorrow is ISU defense will play well enough to keep it within 24 (OU separates in the 4th) and Montgomery has an impressive day. Then everyone here will take a swig of their Kool-Aid and predict Park and the staff will get stuff worked out and project wins of KU, KSU, and BU with tossups between WVU & Tech and possible upsets of TCU or OSU.

Stop the Madness, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

If this all is for recreational marijuana use, this is just silly. You know who doesn't bench players for enjoying their downtime how they see fit? Teams that win games year in, year out.

I completely support a benching for basically any other reason detrimental to your team and education: missing class, showing up late to meetings/practices, getting arrested, causing someone else harm. But if it's simply marijuana usage on your own time then you better also make every scholarship athlete blow a breathalyzer every night before bed. Now if it turns out there was conduct detrimental to his team in some way, that's just fine. I'm content with the benching. Just please, coaches, don't ride some moral high horse for posterity sake.

Go Clones, kick some Sooner arse.

I said it before, and I will stand by it, Park is the best throwing QB ISU has had for a lot of years. TX game was a train wreck, but a good deal of the blame goes on Manning and the horrible game plan, and play calling.

I hope whatever is going on with Park can be resolved in the next week, because without him, it is going to be a really painful season. I suppose Kempt or Zeb could be a lot better than I am thinking, but if they were, they would have played more against UNI and Akron. The fact that ISU had to put the starters back in at the end of the UNI game was pretty telling.

Speaking of drugs and bad haircuts, I just figured Park was a big fan of TOOL because I always think of Maynard Keenan when I see him. For reference

It's probably a team rule. Doesn't matter if it's legal our how trivial you think it is. Not saying that's what it's about because I don't know anything.

How in the world does Vegas Insider confirm Park is listed as Out before any of our beat writers?

Good question, but is it really "confirmed" by them, or are they just speculating at this point?

Edit: I haven't read all of this thread, but I see WRNL is saying Park didn't make the trip to Norman.
