Because all the ISU beat writers are gigantic homers. They don’t want to rock the boat and upset their meal ticket.

There are NO sports journalists in Iowa. There are only guys who right fan-blog stuff and rarely touch on true journalism.
And I'm happy for that.
Your "meal ticket" comment is absolutely true, but some of these guys are real journalists. You don't run with something unless it is concrete from a source you have 100% trust in. They know it's likely, but they don't have that, and it's 100% the correct way to treat this situation.

What do you consider a sports journalist? Randy certainly isn't, but I'd say Montz and Halsted are definitely sports journalists. Birch and Hines also are solid journalists (if we can somewhat ignore Hines' ******** Hoiberg/JP story).

I don't get why people get so pissed when they aren't believed. It is not a personal insult. No one knows who these people really are.
