The single biggest difference between this and the Rhoads teams, even Campbell's team last year, is how securely they tackle and get multiple guys to the ballcarrier on defense. A huge change.

During the game I saw a KU team doing the same things that we used to do, be it under Rhoads or previous coaches. They just didn't do the things necessary to a win a football game. That KU performance was what ISU football used to look like. This ISU team is playing winning football.

Even with those teams I always felt the sense of an inevitable swift decline. This feels different. Not just building towards an insight.com bowl every 4 years.

KU looked way worse than I expected on offense and at least part of that was ISU playing great defense. Part was the weather. Still, holding a team 300 plus yards below their average is impressive. KU had 2 turnovers today, which is actually belows their average.

I was hoping that Montgomery would have a great game today, with the wet field he was not able to go out and make his moves. OL is still not going to overpower a lot of teams, but it is getting better.
