Only at half, but if Memphis beats UCF today, does Memphis automatically go to the NY6 bowl as the non power 5 representative? Or does it have to be an undefeated non power 5 team? And would the outcome effect our opponent at Liberty bowl if we in fact go there?
I believe the G5 team has to be ranked in the top 12 to go to a NY6 bowl.

I would think the USC win helps our cause with getting TCU in a NY6 bowl, but if that means putting us in Houston instead of Memphis not sure I like that. 14 hours of driving or a $600 minimum flight out of Des Moines? No thanks.
Still only a days drive and not too bad of you rotate drivers. Better weather than Memphis and better opponent.

2014: #20 Boise State - Fiesta
2015: #18 Houston - Peach
2016: #15 Western Michigan - Cotton
I stand corrected.
In that case, I'm cheering bigly for Memphis. I'd rather play UCF (possibly without Frost) than Memphis in the Liberty Bowl if it came down to it.

Then our opponent is UCF

UGH. Nothing less exciting than playing a team in their own stadium for a bowl game. BTDT.

Honestly, outside of a few more game tickets, I don't know why any bowl committee ever takes a home town team. They generate no travel or tourism dollars for the city.

It’s either that or a road game against Memphis. I would much rather travel to Houston and watch us play a P5 SEC team instead of a G5 team in their Home stadium.

Would playing against Memphis in Memphis be the most Iowa State thing ever? First vs Michigan State in Detroit, and then vs Boise State in Boise, and now possibly this

I guess don’t finish 1-3 down the stretch and you don’t have to worry about

Agree, but that's way too much logical thinking for this board.

This thread is here to discuss where Iowa State is going to a bowl game. Nobody is "worrying" about it. But we thank you guys for your tough guy, no-nonsense approach to bowl discussion.

TCU will drop out of a New Years 6 bowl. If I had to pick now, ISU is going to Memphis again.

TCU was a longshot anyways, I'm now cheering for Memphis to beat UCF as a fall back option so we don't play them in the Liberty Bowl.

My picks:
CFP: OU
Alamo: TCU
Camping Word: Texas (if ND is the ACC pick)
Texas: Oklahoma State
Liberty: ISU
Cactus: K-State
Heart of Dallas: West Virginia
At large bowl: Tech

it's a long shot, but there is a chance Arizona or Arizona St. drop to the Cactus Bowl...
