$750 pp flying from Spokane. No easy connections and no vacation to use. But I've been to Phoenix and Boise. I would love to go to Memphis just to go to Memphis - and seeing the Cyclones play would just be icing on the cake.

go in May, or October. Far better weather.

Duh!
“I would say this, this fan base hasn’t disappointed,” Campbell said. “I certainly know Memphis thinks it’s going to be a home game and I’m sure it will be a great crowd from the Memphis side, but the one thing I know about Cyclone fans is they won’t disappoint. I guess I’m calling all Cyclones and right now. We need you there, ready to rock and roll, but I know they’ll be there ready to go. What a great atmosphere for college football and I couldn’t think of a greater way to go out.”

The problem is that we are very near a 2005 style "collapse" and never played poorly. That's bullcrap.

This is the right attitude. Let's crush this and put an exclamation point on the season. I'm unable to attend the game, but I will be enthusiastically watching a team that beat a team now playing for the national championship.
Agree ... and forever wash away the bad memory of ISU's last Liberty Bowl stinker. I think that memory may be why some have such a bad take on this Liberty Bowl selection. Need to go make a statement ... and make another break with the past.

There you go. You've decided it isn't worth it. No need to tell others to get off their pedestal if you aren't even going.

POST#127:
I hope it's as good or better than last time, but agree that I think it won't be as good of a turnout. I wish I could go but doesn't fit in with my travel plans for NYE...

Hmmm. That’s all you’ve got? How about a real example?

This is a lose lose situation. You beat Memphis and everyone says you should have, you lose to Memphis and all everyone sees is that you lost to a Mid-major and the end of the season was anti-climatic and dissapointing.

Here's to hoping we crush Memphis to end the season on a high note.

Memphis is a top 20 team

NYC is a billion billion billion times better than memphis. Very jealous of the hoks. I would take BC in NYC over memphis in memphis a heart beat.

I went to the Pinstripe in 11 and the Liberty in 12 and strongly disagree. I also lived in NY for 7 yrs and still travel there for 4-5 days a month for work. NY is cold, Yankee Stadium is in a bland area in the Bronx with nothing around it, and the shape of the baseball park is really bad for watching football. Sit at the 50 yard line and you are over 100 feet from the field. It’s a very expensive trip for a crappy bowl. Plus BC is a weak opponent and we’re playing on the weekend rather than mid-week. Playing a 10-2, ranked Memphis team in their stadium will make for one of the best bowl atmospheres this year. Probably the best outside the group of 6. I would have much preferred Va Tech in Orlando but this is still a far better draw than the Pinstripe. They should shut that bowl down, it’s only useful if you are a former Big East team.

I’ll be in Memphis, and I’m just pumped to be going bowling again! It was a lot of fun partying down there 5 years ago, and I’ll make sure that I make the most of it this time as well. Plus the chance of being in attendance for an ISU bowl win adds to the excitement.

Think 1 of our OL was asked back in the day if they were upset at having to play a bowl in Boise & his response was he'd play an organized game in the parking lot to play just 1 more game.

Yes, I know what happened then, but the point is this is the last time this team will suit up as 1. Look at those playing their last collegiate game. Don't know if the stories this graduating class collectively would have a match anywhere.

Saw half-dozen or more defensive PI called this weekend that were one-tenth as egregious as the no-call on Lazard vs KSU (last time the team was on the field) & now we get a non-P5, rated team Vegas is favoring over us. You honestly think Campbell & Crew won't be motivated?

I'd like the can-of-whoop-ass opened & unleashed & as many fans possible there. Can't make it myself due to medical procedure scheduled late this year or otherwise I'd be there. Plenty of different BBQ to try.

uh, no it’s not.

Ever been to a warm-weather bowl? In a nice metro area (such as Phoenix or south Florida)?
BIG difference. Hope those happen for the Cyclones, beginning next year.

Ever watched an ISU football season?

At this point getting to a bowl is fine. Fans having a poor attitude about it shows little regard for the players that have done the work, especially this group of seniors that should really go down as a very memorable bunch for where they've been and what they've accomplished.

The first world is a really hard place for some people.

Winner gets Tyler Harris.
Memphis fan here to give my perspective on the bowl game. It seems like a number of Cyclone fans are disappointed with the matchup. Your team had a couple of great wins this season and some tough, close losses. Memphis will have to play really well to get the W. I'm hoping we still have our coach for the bowl game.

Memphis fans are a little let down because we were so close to going to the Peach Bowl. But for the most part, I think most fans are okay with this matchup. The Liberty Bowl is a much better bowl than what the AAC is usually stuck with and Iowa State is a much better opponent than some of the teams we have played in past bowl games.

I don't live in Memphis any longer but I understand you all brought a lot of people last time. It may not be as much of a home field advantage for the Tigers as some here are making it out to be.

Good luck and for those of you making the trip, enjoy your time in the Bluff City.

relative newcomer...bandwagon jumper, really. Half a century qualify?

What in my post was disrespectful to the players? Perhaps you should read my other posts on this subject prior to casting aspersions.

Most people on Memphis boards seem to understand it's a home game and they were impressed with Iowa State fans last time. Several posts about buying us a beer and showing us a good time in their town. Only a few who think they are above Iowa State.
