I think I'd go the conventional route and just start Talley for Babb. However, I also think I'd give some thought to having Brase inbound to Talley, with Wigginton or Donnie at mid court. I'd throw Lewis in the corner and Lard at the rim and tell Lewis to pull the trigger anytime he is open. I think you need size "bringing the ball up" to see over the zone-- and by bringing the ball up I generally mean passing. I don't think you want to mess around with Wiggy or Jackson trying to dribble it up. Too small and will have a hard time passing out of the double. Put our best attacking players at mid-court, hopefully find a way to get it there, and give them options when the attack.

I get everyone wanting to see Lewis out there, because he's new, and we want to see if he can get going. However, Long is the better option, particularly against a very physical wv team.

Unless you're confident Lewis can come out and drill 3s, you're better off with the bigger, stronger option. Plus, Long has shown he can come out and get hot.

Obviously there's other choices, but Hilton needs a little razzle, lob dunks and guys that would just assume take WV's game out to the parking lot at any time.

I agree with this completely, esp. for the WV game, which has nightmare written all over it in any case.

I don't view Long/Lewis as an "either/or" proposition, and I cannot imagine that Prohm's roster strategies did not include both of these guys. Long, of course, has had the two major injuries. People forget that he was just as much a "4-star" recruit as any or most of the incoming class that is supposed to miraculously save us next year. Long needs to be that 'strong-bodied' 2nd guard and defender that I think he was brought in to be, and I still believe he will, barring further injury.
The same with Lewis. And I think Lewis is even more of a necessary cog, for any chance of this program regaining viability in the BXII in the near future. There is nothing we need more than another shooter right now. Let's hope that necessity now allows him to be.

Take 10 of Talley's minutes and 10 of Lewis's and give them to Brase and I think you're a little closer. Prohm trusts Brase as someone who will keep his head even under West Virginia's pressure. He and Wigginton will probably split inbounding duties with Weiler-Babb out.
You could be right. I may have been hard on Hans because he's been so frustrating to watch lately. Can't đrop the ball in the ocean

I can't put my finger on why this team can't gel. Too much backlog on the forwards, not enough (any) point guards to run the show. So with Babb out, let's just mix it up. We need to make shots. To quote John Madden, if you have the most points at the end of the game, you win.

PG: Wigginton, big boy points on, show time
SG: DJ. He is just not a PG, he cannot do what Naz and Monte could do and be combo guards and swap
SF: Talley
SF: Lewis
PF: Lard

Off Bench will be Young. Long for guard backups. Beverly is the backup to Solomon if it goes that far. Not sure what to do with Brase. I do not want to see Young or Beverly shot another 3 the rest of the year. The game plan will be attack with Wigginton and make a ton of FT's, dish out to DJ for three. Work the SF's for shots and have Lard be the garbage man cleaning up all day.

Brase will play big minutes. He's one of the better passers, and can see over the press. Don't think he will necessarily be a first or second level breaker, but could be a good release valve option.

All true, but if he can't make a few shots then it negates all the other good things he can do against the press and in the half court. They need him to break out of his funk. I guess I'd go with a starting five of:

LW
DJ
Talley
Brase
Lard
Solomon, Long, and Lewis off the bench.

Might be a long night.

What would happen if we sent out all of our bench guys and mugged WV as much as they mug us?

If they call more fouls on us I would definitely be for CSP getting a T while arguing about it.

Unfortunately we don't have 10 total guys who can play so we can't afford to let the second 5 get a bunch of fouls early.

Talley in for NWB.

Keep Jackson in the corner...not as part of the press break...and let him shoot 35 3s.

Do not ask how we get it to him there. I haven’t figured that out yet.

Maybe add some wrestlers for depth. If they want to play rough, lets play rough. Then after WE physically "wear" THEM out, we can put our normal players back in and actually play basketball.
Thuggins has prepared for this answer. That is why they only practice two things in their normal practices: Mass hacking (disguised as defense) and free throws.

Nick is sidelined for at least a week, so lineup requires some adjustment. Pretend you wake up tomorrow and you're ISU's head coach. What's your starting lineup vs. WVU? How about bench rotation?

Supportive arguments for your decision is encouraged.
I would forfeit - I think that goes in the books as 1-0.
Only possible choice is to start Tally.
I really think we are screwed with no good options. We don’t have very good ball handlers.

Dustin Hogue is my go-to choice to handle any WVU related problems.

This team has a couple of point guards. Between Lindell and Donny J, one of them needs to step up and BE the point guard. Seems both would rather be SG's, but the good Lord chose not to bless them with the body of one. Time for one of you to suck it up and run the damn point.

Clark doesn't belong on that list. Grayer does but if I'm bringing Hogue if the thugs are coming to town.

Good call...thinking Clark for at least giving some good highlights and scoring regardless of score, on the other hand Hogue's going to pull out a mid-air praying mantis even if he's down by 30.
