When DJ is stopping and popping 3s, we can win any game. Really fun game to watch.

I'll give Prohm some credit here for working the process, but the players looked like they were playing for each other finally. Lard energized them all. Of course Prohm whined in the post game that "they took a beating in the media" after last game. Well, that's because they played a historically bad dumper of a game and that's on him as Head Coach. The beatings will cease once moral improves.

Good job finding a way to criticize him and the team. That takes real effort after a game like this.

"some" credit? ... Maybe lots of credit for many areas. "whined"?..... maybe stated a fact just to emphasize how his team responded. Take the good with the good, man.

Could be a lot of reasons students leave. Mine didn't go because he had class from 6:10-8:00. Classes, homework, jobs, whatever.

My kids that have gone to Iowa State never cared about alley points. My older one barely got into the Iowa game one year because of class though. He got to stand on the parquet.
Yea, I definitely don’t blame the ones that can’t come with conflicts. More of that with 6 o’clock games. Just weird the ones that show up and leave to just get points.

I'm pretty old there was no Cyclone Alley. Johnny went to every dorm floor, sorority, fraternity on campus to build student support. I was there the night we beat Mizzou, hooked me for life. Bad or good I try to be there. But it sure is great on nights like tonight.

I'm even older than you, and 5000 was a good crowd in the Hercle Ivy days. But I absolutely remember when Johnny came, and made Hilton Magic happen. When it gets loud and proud in there, well....there aren't many places I'd rather be.

I did not criticize the team. Coach, yes. I said Prohm had his little comment. It came off as petty, blaming the people that follow this team as being harsh. Well, it worked. They were every bit as bad vs Tennessee. They kicked WV up and down the court after such harshness.

I was glad to see this team playing for each other. I don't care if Lard dislikes the coach and the way things are handled, but you never let your teammates down. The biggest annoyance I had on the previous game was the contagious feeling that sitting Lard and his ensuing lack of care had on the entire team. Anyone who has ever played a sport knows the power of positive energy in a team. Even the best on court leaders can't stop it from spreading (think UAB and BDJ's outburst). Lard came out this game explosive and it was like a transformed team.

'Attaboy' to this team and it's future leaders. Always fight for your brothers on the floor.

Stupid. He didn’t whine. He pointed out that before that historic loss in Hilton, they had an historic win in Hilton.

He’s also defending and trying to support his players. They are young.

We’ve had a lot of great coaches here and I have no idea where prohm will rank among them. But we’ve never had a coach that cares as much about the fans as he does. How many times has he said he doesn’t want to let us down? What coach has ever apologized to the fans like he did Monday night?

My freshman year, the team sucked...1997. My roommate spent a big part of the year thinking 6 players were on the floor at once (she turned into a great fan!) she had a chem test the night of a game. She took the chem test in 20 minutes and made it to the game. That’s dedication.

Team played great...very nice to see the bounce back. On another subject, wife was somewhat worried about Huggy Bear and how red he was...he looked about as tired as his team out there. Normally he growls and glares when things go South, tonight he just looked flat out beat.

But you were at the game. And you were rewarded! Had to a great evening. :)
It was fun. So many guys played great. My sort of unsung hero of the game is Solo. He played like a MAN out there. Very tough, focused and with great effort. Proud of every player and coach on the team. But, as I already confessed, I did not think we had much of a chance without Babb. Zoran and Wigg were great against the press. Great plan by CSP. 8 turnovers!

Not exactly sure.
They will not.

Great plan by the staff and equally awesome execution by the starting five. It was nearly perfect from both.

I would say the subs even executed very well. While in there, they kept the plan working still while giving valuable rest to the starters. I liked how we killed probably 5% of the game by running away from the ball after made baskets And then walking to it. It allowed time for everyone to get into position and a small breather to them.

I say 7 turnovers. That rebound that Beverly or somebody tried to chase down in the corner and couldn't stop from going out of bounds to catch it shouldn't count.

Totally agree. Even the most optimistic of us weren't expecting our turnover number to be that low. That takes a team effort for sure.

Solo was so much more decisive offensively and played with the quickness and toughness we saw last year. I loved seeing him and Lard come out of the scrum with the ball as often as they did.

Overall, I was really impressed with how we attacked offensively all night. Wiggi and Talley were getting into the lane all night. We're so much better when we are attacking like that. This isn't a jump shooting team. There's no sense trying to let other teams turn us into one.

Extra passes=easier shots=more shots going in that round thingy

It's ALMOST like Coach Prohm addressed a problem and the player responded.

So you think not starting Lard was the problem vs Tennessee? Did you notice the only good stretch of the game was at the start of the game when he was on the bench?
Prohm has decided to sit Lard and he has responded. Two years ago he sat McKay and ultimately McKay and the team responded.

You're right, we should go the route of how Dejean-Jones was handled.

If a player isn't doing what is necessary for the team, it doesn't matter who it is, they need to sit.

This is a young team and Prohm can't let the expectations of how you practice, prepare, handle school, etc slip. Beverly clearly wasn't starting because he was better than Lard. If Lard is not working as hard in practice than the other guys and you still start him you have damaged your team culture. Lard has to work as hard as the other guys, not just hard enough to be better than Beverly.

I think Lard is an interesting case. I really think he has the potential to be the vocal leader on this team and certainly next year. I think Prohm will be tough on him because of that potential.
