If you're speaking of the team entrance when the band plays fights I challenge you to find any College football program that doesn't play the fight song as the team comes out. If you're talking about the short cheer kinda things that happen when Jeff Johnson is out there we have not argument.

To me and I'm hugely biased, the marching band is a large part of what keeps the environment collegiate rather than pro.

I think it has much more to do with the games being played at, you know, colleges. The band is sort of there, and does add to the atmosphere, but I don't know that I'd miss them if they were gone. Except maybe the drumline.

2. This team looks so much bigger and faster than any other cyclone team that I have watched.

8. That catch by Sedrick in the endzone was a thing of beauty. Reminded me alot of the catch made by the arkansas reciever last year and I think that won play of the year.

First of all everyone forgets that we are playing a Division 2 school. If we didnt stomp them in the ground, we had alot of worry about this year. So this win really just assures us that we had more talent and belong in D-I. I am just as big of an ISU fan as anyone, but I think it is a little early for us to compare speed and size against a D2 school. We should be much larger and faster.

Secondly, the qoute about sedrick johnson is a little much. Yes it was a great catch. But play of the year? We have played 1 game. Wait until he makes that catch over a Big 12 CB that is taller than 5'8" and we can start making comparisons.

I'm not trying to knock you for your comments, but just think some clones fans are getting a little ahead of themselves. I was ecstatic to see the overall outcome of last night, but we have alot to improve. I hope you prove me wrong and we can put up scores like that in the upcoming weeks against the big boys.
It's not a Division 2 school. It's a scholarship 1AA school, and a pretty decent one at that.

The only real difference between a lower tier 1A school and an upper tier 1AA school is depth due to number of scholarships. The starting lineup of both are going to be pretty similar. They just aren't going to have much room for error.

I'm not saying we should be comparing them to a BCS conference team, but I bet they would stack up fairly well against, say, Florida International.

I like how the schedule lines up teams that are a little bit harder every week. Kent State next week. Iowa in two. UNLV (whom, I think, might actually be a bit better than Iowa), and then into the Big 12. If we can go into conference play at 4-0, with two road wins against decent opponents, I think we will have great momentum.

4-0 - I don't think its impossible. In fact I think its very impossible. We just need to keep using both QB's - they are very different from one another and I really like our chances with this combination.

If we are 4-0 heading into the KU game, you have to imagine our guys would smell a great chance to grab an upset. But, we all need to worry about Kent State first. We need to a solid win over them to keep this momentum moving.

It appears he's right. I thought the big deal for SDSU was that they were moving up into 1-AA football this year, and that ISU would be their first 1-A opponent in about two and half decades. The move they did make, though, is into the Missouri Valley conference. It's a bit like Louisville moving from C-USA to the Big East.

If you want to compare this blowout versus the narrow loss to UNI last year, you'll probably have to wait until SDSU plays UNI on September 20th... although, probably by then, we'll have a better idea of where our own team stands compared to last year, and where they are headed.

If we are 4-0 going into the Kansas game, and they are 4-0, look for the national broadcast of the game. The other Big 12 games that day are:

* Sat, Oct 04 Oklahoma State Texas A&M Boone Pickens Stadium, Stillwater, Okla. TBA *
Sat, Oct 04 Iowa State Kansas Jack Trice Stadium, Ames, Iowa TBA *
Sat, Oct 04 Colorado Texas Folsom Field, Boulder, Colo. TBA * Sat, Oct 04 Baylor Oklahoma Floyd Casey Stadium, Waco, Texas TBA *
Sat, Oct 04 Nebraska Missouri Memorial Stadium/Tom Osborne Field, Lincoln, Neb. TBA *
Sat, Oct 04 Kansas State Texas Tech Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Manhattan, Kan. TBA

Perhaps the Texas-CU game or the kNU-Missu game, but ISU-KU should be the choice.

Possibly. Or you could look at last year. UNI played SDSU the week after they played us last year. They beat them 31-17. We lost to UNI 24-13.
