Lot's of water...cases of it. Hy Vee water to be specific...I bet he just got a side salad and a water.
I hope Monté has the receipt with his credit card number and signature on it.
What do you mean by taking care of?
I assume he means make sure 18 year olds don't party their signing bonus away, get involved with the wrong people, and ruin their lives and careers.
College isn't a perfect environment by far, but there are at least some rules and oversight in place to help teenagers learn how to be adults.
Give a cocky 18 year old millions of dollars and see how well he does with it.
They had issues with kids getting drafted from high school before they changed the rule several years ago. And teams ended up reaching on young guys for potential and having the kids flame out before even sniffing a career.
I think the G-League is better prepared to handle it now, but even one year in college can help a kid mature a lot.
Do you seriously think that the NBA would care for kids better than DI coaches do?
Wait, Georges played with Nerlen Noel? This is the first I've heard of this! How did they keep that a secret?Unfortunately there is more than one ISU tie in this report. Nerlens Noel took a loan. I don't know if this is common knowledge, but he played prep ball with Georges....that's how Niang learned to be so crafty around the basket.
We're screwed.
Perhaps. But shouldn't that be their decision? The NBA didn't impose the rule to protect the players. They did it to protect the teams. Actually, if I remember right, a kid can go straight to the gleague now if he wants. I wonder if more kids will start doing this?
I don't follow the NBA enough to know if the product has actually improved since the 1 and Done rule was put in place or not. I think the NBA is benefiting from having players use that one year in college to weed out who is good enough for the NBA or not. There are usually those no doubt guys who get drafted anyway, but there's a decent number of guys who could have been One and Done lottery picks, who end up staying another year or two in college to develop.
The problem with the NBA is that they are obsessed with youth and potential, so much so that they take more chances on young guys than they probably should.
I think the G-League can be a good option for a guy who doesn't want to go to college, but I doubt they will get as much money as they would after one year dominating in college and getting drafted higher.
How does that work now anyways? Teams can't draft high school guys, right? But they can play in the G-League for a year? Are they free agents then who have to get signed to play in the G-League?

Sort of greedy pigs versus greedy pigs senario. The NBA is run by rich greedy pigs. The NCAA is afraid of the greedy pigs at ESPN and the blue blood cash cows. Under all of this fall a bunch of kids with NBA aspiration that only a small percentage will actually realize. What a cluster **** it all is.
Do agree that maybe turning a bunch of 18-year olds into professional minor league vagabonds maybe isn't the best option for a lot of the kids. Works out for some of the island kids drafted as young teens in baseball but you don't hear the story of what happens to all of those kids that never make it past A ball. What happens/happened to them?
I don't understand it well, but assuming the straight out of HS guys can't sign two way contracts won't they make 25-30k? Do you think that's a better quality of life than being a star player at a top school? I think very few guys are going to go straight to the G League. They need to get rid of the one and done rule. It is only in place to make it easier on NBA teams.Perhaps. But shouldn't that be their decision? The NBA didn't impose the rule to protect the players. They did it to protect the teams. The NBA is a business. They are no more greedy than any other business. I don't know that'd I'd call them "greedy pigs". They want high school players to play a year in college to help with evaluation. There is nothing wrong with that. The NBA doesn't force them to go to college either.Sort of greedy pigs versus greedy pigs senario. The NBA is run by rich greedy pigs.
