I can still picture the local reaction if rhabdo had happened at ISU instead. We'd still be catching grief for it.
The only people that praise Doyle are in Iowa City anymore. He used to be well regarded in the industry but it's pretty obvious he hasn't kept up with the times
Doyle wears them down as the season goes on. That's why CMC and other quality programs improve throughout the season while Iowa is playing at it's worst at that time
Huh? The local media goes incredibly easy on us, lead by Randy Pete.
Pretty obvious to whom? Recruits? Clearly not. The NFL and his ability to develop NFL players? Clearly not. He's not keeping up with the times? He's had Iowa on the cutting edge of technology in his industry for years. "Pretty obvious" you just made your comment up.
Is that why we lost 3 of 4 down the stretch last year? Because of all our improvement? I don't think playing worse as the season goes on is Iowa's reputation as all.
My cousin walked on at Iowa right around the time of rhabdo. Him and his buddies swear by the guy. I had a chance to meet him once and he was friendly and great to my family. Doyle is a huge asset to Iowa. Claiming otherwise just makes us look foolish.
We finally have our crap together again from a coaching standpoint so there's no reason to tear down others to make ourselves feel better anymore and there never was a reason to blatantly make things up. Embrace what we have. We are in good shape.
I'm confident we can land other LBs of his quality in this class, but it's disappointing considering all of the time and effort the staff put into recruiting him.

Grandpa Kirk is really starting to show his age in that picture.
Iowa has been really fortunate to have only had 2 coaches the last almost 40 years.
Have you seen how Iowa performs at the end of the season? They have what one bowl win a decade? They always look slow and weak at the end of the season. You can blame that on Ferentz but I'd blame it on the S&C coach living in the 2000s
Bowls are a different animal in that they are often 6+ weeks after the season is over. My perception is that Iowa's November record under Ferentz is pretty good but I've done zero research. I do know last year they beat the tar out of Ohio State and Nebraska at the end of last year and won their bowl game. They had two losses but both to bowl teams including Wisconsin.
So what your evidence Iowa is behind the times? The latest and greatest thing in football training is the GPS stuff and Doyle was one of the earliest adopters. Recruits talk about their S&C program all the time. Also, they had a couple of 2 star recruits earn consensus AA honors last season. What are your supporting points?

Probably look slower and weaker at the end of the season because of the turf length?!?Have you seen how Iowa performs at the end of the season? They have what one bowl win a decade? Iowa has been fortunate. Too bad the fans can’t reciprocate that and fill up Kinnick regularly.Iowa has been really fortunate to have only had 2 coaches the last almost 40 years.

He doesn’t have any except for the bowl record which is a huge reach. He just really hates Iowa.
