You might try getting on a construction crew. Usually a lot of that goes on on campus in the summer.
Honestly, here is some advice that lawmans room mate gave me. Some very good advice. Go to the placement office at ISU that offers your major and chat with them. (Should have done this a couple months ago). Get an internship as soon as possible. The one with more than one internship at graduation has a huge leg up on other candidates.
If you have a friend that is willing to let you use their login or to let you sit there with them there at least used to be a jobs section on AccessPlus.
Groundskeeping usually hires extra students in the summer also. And the field crop faculty in Agronomy & ABE & Horticulture pay pretty well for field work - but it's long hours, hot work...
Agree, but most internships are already taken in the first few weeks of spring semester.
When our oldest was 4, she was a vet for Halloween. I ironed on Dr. (firstname) on her adorable white coat. It works.
And I am going to have that coat at her vet school graduation. There are some Elsie around here. Daughter's 1st grade class has Elsie, Ellie, and Ali. I get the three confused all the time. Elyse is another one there are at least 1 or more of in the elementary grades.
The name Isla is becoming very popular, except with the Scottish pronunciation which is no "s" (like Isla Fisher the actress). Not to be confused with the Spanish pronunciation. Anyway, I had a grandma Ila so we liked a variation of the name. A college friend had a baby a few weeks before our last and named her Isla. On the baby announcement on FB they had to say "the 's' is silent". Don't want to have to be telling people how to pronounce the name all the time.
Between my daughter's soccer team(s) and class at school I get confused by the number of Sophies and Sophias as well as the Kaylas, Kylas, Kylies, and Katies.
My parents did the judge test: would my name sound weird if I became a judge. I like the grandma test, but I think it should be paired with the kid test. Can you see a little kid having that name. For example, Mable is a great grandma name, but I can't imagine a little girl named Mable.
But an issue with all these tests is I imagine they're very context specific. The reason Aiden, Kaiden, Jayden, etc. fail those tests is because those are relatively new names. But if you ask my kids or grandkids, those names will probably pass the judge test, adult test, or grandparent test because they will have heard judges, adults, and grandparents with those names. It's like Mable. It's an old person name to me because I've never heard kids with that name. But if I had gone to school with Mables I'd probably feel differently.
Velo might actually have a good real life example of what I'm referring to. I view Grace like an Elizabeth (a traditional name) rather than an old person name because I knew Grace's growing up

It is. Mabel is more common but Mable is used as well. I just was taking twist on all of our comments about people creating new spellings for existing names to make their kid's life hell.
