Curly Wurly is a very close remake. You can order from places in Europe or some Irish stores.
I've heard about this - but have yet to order them on-line. I really wish they were available in our local grocers.

The main liquor store chain in LA sells some off brand of those in what appears to be a 20 gallon clear plastic barrel. I'm tempted to buy the thing and walk around town just for the reaction.

I think you can get a similar barrel at Walmart, but they are not the originals!

They have that cereal at all of the super targets and walmart supercenters in the metro.

I bought that once. Thought it would last longer than it did. Those things are too easy to snack on

Black cow. Mmmmm . . . .

I recall having one of these bad boys on a school bus in early June 50 years ago, in 1967 or ‘68, on the way to swimming lessons in a neighboring town.

In comments at the first link below, first made in the 1920s, you can see they brought it back in 2011, after 25 years (from what I read somewhere else, or 13 per another site) — but different not as good as the original. I also recall the Purple Cow, the Banana Cow (I think), the texture biting into the Black Cow, and other things described. I tend to gulp down candy too fast. The Black Cow was tasty and would last.

Towards the end of the comments someone describes how a new owner also changed Milk Duds, which, along with Slo Pokes, was also previously made by Holloway’s in Chicago.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw and bought a Black Cow in a mall candy shop a year or two ago. Although tasty, besides the lack of a stick, I thought it wasn’t a whole lot like what I had remembered.

Nice little history here in the comments . . .

Some of you may remember a sweet bovine that came in many different flavors on a stick. While this might sound crazy, it did actually exist! What you remember is the 1920’s dipped caramel lollipop from the sweet candy creators at Slo Poke. There was Black Cow, Pink Cow, Purple Cow, Banana Cow, and Orange Cow. Each cow was a different flavored taffy which was soft and chewy. Except for Black Cow, which was a caramel dipped in milk chocolate. . . .

Speaking of Casey's. They used to make garlic cheese bread on their sandwich french rolls and it was honestly the best especially if it was fresh.

You can definitely tell how old people are based on what they’re posting here.
Careful. You’re just jealous that you couldn’t get a Big Chief tablet, and a Purple Cow for a nickel, at Johnny’s Blue & White. ;)
