Here is a YouTube video of an area pilot that went up to the third Thursday Burger Burn at Mason City....I need to get up there this year.

Wonder if I could talk my ISU Bonanza buddy into flying down for that? BTW how does that work for those who don't fly nights, seems you'd have to leave pretty quick before civil sunset or whatever it's called? Guess folks aren't really flying in from very far though.

Reminds me that the grand nephews toy planes came out again Sunday morning. The coffee table was the landing strip. The drop off is like that airport in Nepal. The boys call it "The Abyss." :) The toy Cessna did not make it, totes augered in.

It varies. In a Bonanza it would probably be only an hour or little more flight for you. This month would be perfect as it is on the 21st so you have the maximum amount of daylight. You could leave at 8 or so and make it back as the sun sets. Technically "night flying" is 30 minutes after civil sunset until 30 minutes before civil sunrise due to physics and light. Basically twilight still counts as day.

Buddy was instrument rated but even then didn't really fly outside VFR anyway. Betting that rating isn't up to date anymore anyway. Might have to send that video to him.

Sorry, D'Artagnan, I know you can defend yourself just fine, but I though good 'ole Cat Stevens was being a bit too much of a ****, so I flew the following flag in your defense. I'm not addressing the particular political points of view of either him or yourself here (in fact I'm not sure I agree with either him or you, but that is beside the point). I truly believe there really isn't cause to post with a **** attitude (even though I'm sure I've been guilty on occasion).

I would gladly accept the support of my fellow Musketeer(s)! I guess I should know well enough to think I can just breeze through the Cave without getting a few $hit pellets flung my way.

All for one and one for all!

I'd gladly support you but I'm not going into the cave. It's too scary for this Musketeer.

@wxman1, do you go to the big fly-in at Oshkosh, WI?

Normally yes...although this year due to life and starting an MBA program I don't think I will make it. If I do it will only be for a day or two. I do have a couple of meetings during the event this year so I am trying to make it but it is not looking good.

I'm a Wisconsin boy, born and bred. My sister lives in Oshkosh. That whole Fox Valley is growing like crazy......next time you go up there, there's a place up in Kaukauna (about a half hour north) called the Darboy Club that has a fabulous fish fry.

I've noticed Cat lurks in there, and disagrees with posts or thinks they're funny. Pretty brave.

Does she want visitors for a night or two? They could really use more hotels around there...

Ha....yeah she and her husband are empty nesters, they live in a big house a block or so away from Lake Winnebago.

I thought there were several new hotels along 41 on the west edge of town, but maybe the event is just getting bigger. Appleton to the north has lots of nice hotels - the visitors to Lambeau Field stay there in the fall.

Not exactly sure.
Holy cow, working on sprayer and a clatter occurs. Two crappy vehicles pull up, I honestly thought this isn’t good with a shooting 10 miles south and nothing coming out. I grab my phone to so I could try to call if shot. Walk up to car and I double take them, its chumlee from pawn stars is in the lead minivan.

Thankfully just a couple nutjobs not fully methed out. Still alive.

You sure you're still alive?
