@cyrocksmypants dont know why I didn’t think of this sooner. In the ISR boards, the biggest hawk troll is a dude from your hometown that is mid thirties. Probably an old classmate of yours. Should go interrogate him, he has a short fuse.

I figured he was not middle aged or anything because of his lack of first hand knowledge of Hayden Fry and how he fed rivalry hate that wasn't that common at all pre-Fry. He's a typical and direct result of that and doesn't even get it.

But if he’s my age, Fry retired when he was 14 years old. It’s actually kind of understandable if he didn’t know everything about him. I couldn’t tell you a whole lot about Tim Floyd or Troy Davis other than the basic info.

dude, that would be creepy and invite interaction. I'm asserting my dominance. Also, there's a partial wall between us. I got that put in when I moved in for privacy aka, so the person sitting there couldn't see my screen/watch me pick my nose/fall asleep/whatever

You disappoint me, grasshopper.

so I've been getting emails from daycare about open houses and free stuff so I've forwarded them to DH to be like hey we should go and get free ****. I sent one today and he just texted like you know that's not our daycare, right? Ah, I did not, no. He's like I wondered why you sent that one a while ago as well.

So yeah, I'm already killing this parenting thing. Probably a good thing I wasn't doing drop-offs or I'd be leaving kid at the wrong place. In my defense, the two are like a block apart so it would probably have been ok.

I should unsubscribe from those emails.

Which model/brand? Been looking at some Aztek square shouldered to replace my front steps and stoop that are old (and rotting out) redwood. Going to be a pain in the ass since it's currently 18" o.c. and designed for 1 1/2" thick planking.

Yeah, most of the composite/PVC products are designed for 16" OC framing. I used TimberTech (owned by Azek), which is PVC-capped composite. Azek is 100% PVC, either is excellent. There are some styles with color variegations designed to look more like real wood, which of course increases the cost.

IPE would be a good solution for the 18" OC (in the 5/4 thickness), but holy crap is it expensive. Not to mention you have to oil it every so often.

Bear in mind with the square shouldered product you should pre-drill before you use the screws, or it can mushroom and look not so nice. The grooved pieces use a hidden fastener that works really well.

Busy few days in Iowa City. The Iowa City had the first civil airport west of the Mississippi and it turns 100 this year so they are having a weekend long celebration for it. They got one of the EAA Tri-Motors to come and being the local chapter we are in charge of manning it. Basically EAA provides the pilot, a maintenance guy and a person to sell tickets. Safety briefings and ground crew are up to us to provide. This is all fine and dandy other than the fact that the same 10-15 people in the chapter do pretty much everything.

Then add in that they wanted to do a Young Eagles rally (fly kids 8-17 for free). Great especially since it was international Young Eagles day. Again though the same people do pretty much everything. Oh and the retired couple that runs Young Eagles was on vacation this week so guess who got to run it.

It was also a bit abnormal as since it was a part of another event we didn't get to do what we normally do and just have everything located close by. Registration and the dispatch table were fairly normal but the planes were at a remote ramp due to congestion at the main ramp. Then it stormed and we got started an hour late.

It all worked out and I and we learned a lot on how to run an event like this. That being said I take it as a learning experience while some of the older more entrenched people are saying we should never take part in someone else event again.

Yeah, figured on pre-drilling. Want the square shoulders and not hidden attachments because I and going to space them a good 1/4 or more. Such much crap from the silver maples falls on this and I spaced the redwood too close 20 years ago and it's a total pain to clean out the gaps. Also going to need to rip a ton of 1/2" furring stripes and either replace/respace the joists or slap sleepers alongside them.

Looks better than it is, the miter cuts and lots of board ends have rotted:

dude, I would have thought the same thing! Good news is it sounds like you won't be an easy target for Dateline murderers.

I must admit that's my guilty weekend pleasure. And that was even before I've gotten all old and childful. Is that the opposite of childless? Childful? Childmore?
I've just gotten old and childish.

Been trying to think of who Yeah Buddy could be, but can’t come up with anything. I know from the cave he’s liberal, and I’m struggling coming up with more than two or three people I know that are Hawk fans and liberal. I’d i remember right, he has kids too.

That said, my class was big enough that I didn’t really fraternize with people in different grades, outside of football teammates.

Also, I try to get away from Mason City. I don’t even really talk to many people from there anymore.

Seriously? IMO Iowa City is one of the most liberal towns in Iowa - I think the university has a lot to do with that. Madison, WI and Ann Arbor, MI are two towns I'm pretty familiar with that have the same type of feel.

Think he's talking about liberal Hawk fans in Mason City, maybe?

This, plus more really rural tavern hawks aren't likely to be very liberal folks or even spent enough time in Iowa City to even recognize that it might be somewhat liberal. Okay, stereotyping, but I like to do that about small town Iowa.

Told me he graduated about 10-12 years ago from Iowa.
