Similar category as Tull — real person, but not a member of the band (largely due to being deceased).

Historic reference is higher-profile/less obscure, so not as prone to confusion.

Del Lord was a Hollywood director best known for his Three Stooges shorts. How cool is that? Putting the dash in the name does reduce the, "Del Lord, he really rocks" potential. Yeah, I'm stretching it...

By the time they got famous they were "John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band." But originally they were just "The Beaver Brown Band."

There is no one named Beaver - or with the last name, "Brown" - in the band.

And one of my all time favorite bands, Jethro Tull. Front man is Ian Anderson. Here's my current favorite songs, Hyme 43. The message is pretty timeless. People twisting religion for their own personal gain.

Fun fact, his son-in-law is actor Andrew Lincoln who plays Rick Grimes on The Walking Dead

I'm not sure if anyone got a chance to see them at the M Shop back in the day, but Accidental Sisters were, in fact, not sisters. I didn't like everything they did, but I liked the grittiness of their music and they were good live.

Adding a couple to the Uriah Heep-stack … literary characters/references adapted as band moniker.

Main character in "Slaughterhouse-Five"

Recurring character in William Burroughs works (Steely Dan also is a Burroughs reference)

I wish I could find the clip from That 70's Show when Jackie is trying to get Donna to take her to the Led Zeppelin concert. Hyde tells Jackie she doesn't even like Led Zeppelin and she claims that she thinks Led is hot.

I remember going to Billy Joe’s Pitcher Show in West Des Moines back in the Fall of ‘87 or Spring of ‘88 to see “The Wall”, and my girlfriend turning to me asking “Is he in the movie?”

I looked at her and said, “Who??”

She said, “Pink Floyd. Is he in it?”

“Of course! He’s the star of the movie.”
