FWIW, after watching the boyfriend do an interview, I did not think he appeared as concerned/sad/etc. as somebody in that situation probably should be.
Shock has surprising effects on people. Probably just as common to see somebody show very little emotion as it is to see someone inconsolable in a situation like this. There is no normal.

People often think that someone should act a certain way after a tragic occurrence, but everyone reacts and processes differently. Id be really hesitant to use just that as evidence. Of course investigate him like anyone else close to the situation, but i think people jump to that conclusion too much.

Yeah, I’d imagine that most people in that situation act awkwardly, because of the situation, because they feel like they could be a suspect or even because they’re normally a bit awkward in tense situations. Plus, people show emotion differently. Some experience a delay in emotion due to shock, and some can’t bring themselves to accept the worst of the possibilities. Just not a ton to gain from someone’s mannerisms and emotions in one or two interviews.

Not sure if this has been brought up, but where was the dig she was watching and was there a sign of a struggle in the house?

Maybe those details are being intentionally withheld by investigators. Seems like they're trying to keep it close to the vest and they have identified a suspect or at least a person of interest. Or maybe there's really nothing to report. I hope it's the former. This has to be agony for her family.

Her father lives in Oakland, and she os oroginally from there. Might have something to do with it? Most abductions are from family members.

Her glasses and contacts were left behind and she cant see without them, so who knows.

Not many family members abduction college age kids though.

I went to a seminar put on by our town police department regarding the rise in human trafficking in small town Iowa. The numbers they presented are depressingly unreal. This is a very deep and dark crime and it is very much alive in Iowa. What dropped my jaw the most is, the largest customers of the traffickers are middle aged, married with children, middle to upper class males, are the ones fueling it.

The fact that sickos like this are walking around in plain site is something that makes me more angry and hostile than anything else.

I'd be really hesitant to make judgments based on superficial stuff like this. Isn't he about her age? He probably hasn't slept in days, been interrogated by the police, almost certainly hasn't been schooled in giving media interviews...not everybody presents as the concerned relative/friend/boyfriend straight out of Central Casting.

I'm not arguing he didn't/couldn't have done it. Just that "he looks guilty" has probably ruined a lot of people's lives, whether by being under police suspicion if not being wrongly arrested and convicted.
Agree. And had he kept to himself (no interviews), folks would say "and why haven't we heard from.the boyfriend?"

Death, Kidnapped, Sex Trafficking, or, best case scenario, dissociative identity disorder.

I've had a two separate woman friends in the Harlan/Avoca area who've been pulled over just off the interstate (both for speeding) but while the officer was getting their information, the officer asked both of them if they were victims of sex trafficking because there has been a high volume of incidents in the area.

Couple things that stick out as odd to me

- She wasn't missing for that long before she was reported missing

- They announced foul play isn't being ruled out almost the same time they told the public she was missing

I think when your girlfriend, who always returns texts and snap chats immediately doesn't do that or show up for work, it's pretty safe to say something could be wrong and report it. And of course they wouldn't rule out foul play. They didn't know anything and foul play is almost always the case.

Oh, I'm not saying boyfriend or even family. I'm saying something stuck out to someone suspicious pretty early.

I love my parents and girlfriend dearly and that those feelings are reciprocated. However, if I went 24 hours without saying anything to them without warning, I don't think they would report it unless there was another sign of something suspicious.

She didn’t show up for work. If my kids job contacted me that they weren’t st work and they weren’t answering their phone, I’d report them missing.
