I don't know who King is but I remember Bruton very clearly. He was really good.

King was a Juco all American from Seattle area. I think he played Juco in Iowa.

Tommy King? He played for Eustachey. He was billed as instant offense like Tyray Peason...he wasn't and he was not part of Floyd's heralded class. From memory, that was Fizer, Rancik, Stensrud (was a FB/BB signee), Bruton, (Walter?) Moore and one or two others. I went and watched an exhibition game at Hilton between ISU's class and other B12 signees which included Chris Mihm. Losing out on Bruton really hurt.

AND GERROD HENDERSON - that was a MAJOR loss, imho. He may have come to ISU the following year (1998-99) had Floyd stayed in Ames. But this guy averaged nearly 10ppg as a Frosh and 17+ the next 3 years at LSU. He would have been a difference maker on our team had he been able to make it to Ames during the 1997-98 season!

Good memory. I believe it was Louisiana Tech for Gerrod.

I still have a shirt from the Big 22 Classic. Believe our guys played against Bob Knight’s Indiana recruits.

I went to that as well.

Henderson was definitely a player and a big loss.

Good for him..boy he had a bad leg injury sounds like back in 17’..hopefully its all healed up and he still has same mobility as before..i’d Assume so give the offer and commitment... Might just end up being huge steal.

I want to believe it, but I am still skeptical. Anybody know if this source can be trusted?

Good catch about Louisiana Tech. I was at that game as well - I remember how excited I was about ISU's basketball future after seeing how good our recruits looked.

Not to be super cynical but does this really tell us anything different than before? I think the key here is Prohm & the staff *accepting* the commitment, which who knows if they’re ready to do yet. I’m waiting on more reliable sources.
Correct. It’s really nothing new. It’s pretty much just another thing added to the rumor that he’s a Cyclone.

I thought it was less that he’s deciding between ISU and other P6 programs and more he needs to meet some criteria with grades, health, and behavior before the program will formally accept him, the same way with Lard two years ago?

I still think he is a great upside play. If the next class is Leech (boom/bust), somebody like a Tandy, and a JUCO that can give you two years as a Big 12 rotational player, and either a development guy or a slot for a transfer later (and likely after Lindell declares), then the staff would have done it again on reloading the roster.
