Just watched a video on Facebook of the “Cyclone Loop” and the guy taking the video showed a Cy in like a black Batman suit and the cyclone logo on Cy’s chest is interesting. I don’t know how “official” these Cy statues are or even if they are associated with the university or athletic department- here is a screenshot I took-

I thought I heard somewhere that this was more of a "Ragbrai" logo

This is just one of many Cy statues around Ames. My wife and I brought our kids up to Ames a few years ago and went around town to all of the statues and got pictures with them all. They have one dressed as Superman, a doctor, looking like a disco ball. Very cool, but have nothing to do with any new uniform design :)

This is just one of many Cy statues around Ames. My wife and I brought our kids up to Ames a few years ago and went around town to all of the statues and got pictures with them all. They have one dressed as Superman, a doctor, looking like a disco ball. Very cool, but have nothing to do with any new uniform design :)


I think there are 30 around town. The disco ball one is called "Reflective Cy." I think it is usually located on Main Street. Not sure why they would move it, but I saw a bunch around Jack Trice Stadium yesterday. There is another cool one at the hospital with half showing the "inside" of Cy.

It's a play on Cyclone Power called Cycling Power. Just for Ragbrai.

just saw this in a video on instagram, will the visors actually have the logo on them? Looks really awesome!

Those are just for looks. I believe you can't have colored visors in college, just NFL.

headbands, T-shirts, wristbands, visors, hats or gloves) may bear
only a single manufacturer’s or distributor’s normal label or
trademark (regardless of the visibility of the label or trademark)
not to exceed 2.25 square inches in area (e.g.., rectangle, square,
parallelogram) including any additional material (e.g., patch)
surrounding the normal trademark or logo. See also Rule 1-4-6-d

Rule 1-4-6-c:

Eye shields.
Eye shields must be clear, not tinted, and made from molded
or rigid material. Eyeglasses and goggles also must be clear and not
tinted. No medical exceptions are allowed.

In this same video, go to the 10 second mark. Are those cardinal matte helmets? Gawd..... I hope not!
