It's fine. Really.

In 1926, Iowa State coach Sam Willaman leaves for Ohio State. Resume to date was:
  • Former Ohio collegiate star (Ohio State).
  • Coaching star rose in Ohio.
  • Best ISU player was Ohio HS star Jack Trice.
  • Top-4 finish in conference.
  • Top 10 upset on road foiled by Jack's death (lost 20 - 17).
In 1979, Iowa State coach Earle Bruce leaves for Ohio State. Resume to date was:
  • Former Ohio collegiate star (Ohio State).
  • Coaching star rose in Ohio.
  • Best ISU player was Ohio HS star Matt Blair.
  • Top-4 finish in conference.
  • Top 10 upset on road.
Just because Matt Campbell's resume to date is:
  • Former Ohio collegiate star (Mount Union).
  • Coaching star rose in Ohio.
  • Best ISU player is Ohio HS star David Montgomery.
  • Top-4 finish in conference.
  • Top 10 upset on road.
Does not mean he will be leaving for Ohio State. The reason is simple. Sam Willaman and Earle Bruce were 53 years apart. Thus, we don't have to worry until 2032.

It's science.

The comparison to Tressel is a little off base. Tressel lied to the NCAA about violations. Combine that with the fact that he was an ageing coach who you could argue was going to fade, and it was a good bargaining chip especially since they had a very good idea they could land Urban in a year.

This is a much worse moral violation, to be sure, but the NCAA won't and can't do anything to OSU because of it. I don't think anything really happens right away but this could be something that hurts a season and recruiting.

I just hope Urban doesn't have another "health scare" because of this.

Read the whole report. Damn, that is bad. Also mentions that OSU could have title ix violations for failing to report domestic violence. Sounds like Urban got someone to pressure her into not dropping the charges the first time it happened in Florida.

If the story is true and he lied about what he did or didn't know, then the NCAA might not matter. Public outrage from him covering up domestic abuse might be enough to force him out.

Yeah, got Earle Bruce to talk to her.

Not exactly sure.
Imagine the "outrage" at Baylor if tOSU somehow finds a way to keep Meyer?

Nauseating

I would prefer to have Meyer bounced for covering this up, here is where I see it being pushed as different. It was one coach and she didn't press charges immediately. He didn't speak to her himself IIRC. He will play a little dumb and take a beating but survive. Once again, I disagree with how I think he will angle it, just how I think he will go.

Were there any issues at ISU when Smith was AD? I would’ve been too young to know what was going on, if anything

One who forced Johnny out early for Floyd, Johnny wouldn't have anything to do with the AD while Smith was there. He drove us deeply in debt without any real plans. Did so in order to make it a stepping stone to a bigger place.

It'll matter for a month until they are 3-0. No one held him accountable for Florida being a mess until he started losing. No one's held him accountable for his other scumy behavior. I'm just not optimistic this is going to be any different.

I agree with you, but, again, after Penn State, Baylor, and Michigan State, and with #MeToo a real thing now, I think the rules have changed. It is a new world now.

Universities cannot afford to be associated with this in 2018.

The politics of such hypocrisy and their liability are very different than even a few years ago.
