IF Campbell is gone after the season, I think Pollard looks no further than Toledo OH again.

Candle was going to be our OC under Campbell before taking that job. I think he'd be a very good hire and would imagine Campbell would be laying the ground work with Pollard if Ohio State does come calling.

That’s why he’d go after candle.

That brings up an interesting point. I suspect that Ohio State might not react too well to a coach bringing in a bunch of young assistants from Iowa state.
I feel like most ISU fans had a similar reaction when he brought along most of the Toledo staff to Iowa St.

One thing seems to be missing so far. Ohio State fans saying that they think Campbell would be a good coach there. So far, I'm hearing only the opposite. Of course, I'm mostly hearing from knuckleheads, but I would have thought we would have heard from some trusted local reporter that Campbell would be on a short list. Maybe it is out there and I just missed it.

IMO, I think Matt Campbell can be the guy for OSU, but it won't be for a few years. He did well in the MAC, but he's 11-14 in the Big 12. I don't think the resume fits...yet. However, Tom Herman got the Texas job with only a year of head coaching under his belt. He was, however, the OC for Ohio State when they won a national championship. If Campbell goes then I'm happy for him, but it's too hard to tell and this speculation will drive all of crazy if we let it. I for one can't wait to see Campbell put on a show this year for us!

I know a woman who has been through this (husband is not a college coach and I got to know her after the situation), it is one of the most difficult things out there. Women don't want their spouse to go to jail, could get them fired and then they are out of income or child support. The officers avoid these like the plague. They do not want to handle domestic abuse cases with people that they know or are well know in the community.

Woman I know had married a local that the cops knew, they tried to just have them each go their merry way. She didn't press charges but did file divorce. She was technically o.k. and was just happy to be out of the situation and didnt want to drag her kids through it even though they had seen it a bunch.
The cop has a duty and has to follow protocol. Plus, this didn't happen once but numerous times. I understand what you're saying, but can all of these people (coaches, wives, cops, AD, etc) looked the other way?

Meyer has a huge ego and thinks he is better than anyone else so I doubt it will be easy to make him go away. If OSU tries to fire and not pay his full buyout, I would bet money that he takes it to court.
And has a shot of winning. So far there is no evidence to show that he knew.

Ehhhh....we weren’t in much of a position to complain. And we had just fired a coach whose trouble was partly to do with hiring assistants. And the model we were following was bringing in a head coach who had a staff.

I just think it is possible that s school like Ohio State might want a young, green coach to bring in bigger names. And I think it would be possible that would be a deal breaker for Campbell.

Chizik went 5-19 at ISU then got the Auburn job. Record isn't a huge deal if the potential is there and it absolutely is with Campbell.

I’ve said several times in the thread. They don’t even know who he is and will be mad if that is the hire. Everyone here is acting like he’s an Ohio State guy. If you’re going to make the fan and donor class happy you better be bringing AT LEAST a P5 conference championship in the past 3 years and big bowl game appearances.

Not exactly sure.
Man, lot of OSU fans looking bad on their message boards. Trashing the victim as a liar and crazy and saying people are being unfair to Meyer and that the reporters have it out for Meyer.

Two things:

1) What the **** is wrong with the big ten?? We have the baylor crap, but it seems big ten school after big ten school is having nasty issues. MSU, PSU, Minnesota, this is even a small thing compared to the wrestling part for Ohio State. I know I'm forgetting at least one schools mess. That conference is a disaster right now.

2) If this does get a little drawn out and nasty (not that I want it to, just a what if), would that make a Campbell look at it and say, maybe right now is not a good time to go there. If fans and donors start attacking, it could make a mess.

Right. But he might be told or encouraged to do something else.

He doesn't seem like the type to do it someone else's way. Like Bill Parcells said if he doing the cooking he's buying the groceries.

This is my opinion again, but I would put Ohio State in a category above Auburn. They are going to want the absolute best, will Ohio State's AD put Campbell in that category right now?

Baylor fans defended a person who helped sweep multiple rapes under the rug. Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to fandom.

Can't wait to hear how Campbell reacts to the inevitable questions tomorrow when practice starts. Expect something about "futball" and "rock-n-rollin". Hoping for something that will tell recruits that he intends to stay, even if he leaves wiggle-room for himself. Just talk about how much he loves it here, working this these student-athletes, along-side Pollard, investing in long-term facility improvements. None of this "never say never" language. Just say that he isn't even thinking about anything else or considering anything other than coaching this football team.
