Good PR answer. Question will still come up every other breath, so nothing really changes until Ohio State hires someone.

Do you think the question will keep coming up from local reporters? He pretty much told them that he would only address Iowa State football matters.

Have you heard Randy before?
Yes, the question will continue to come from local reporters, and will be asked be regional and national reporters once the games begin.

I’ll say it. I was hoping for more of a door slamming. Last time this happened he said it was disrespectful and basically said he wasn’t going anywhere. This fell quite a bit short of those comments.

I'm right with you on the cynicism boat. From a career perspective, it's probably stupid to slam the door, so I can't really blame him, but nothing about the statement told me anything. They were the necessary platitudes. But not everybody can even get those right, so credit to him for that.

The key part of his statement:

“I think a lot of you guys know me. I think a lot of you guys know what I stand for,” Campbell said. “I’ve always said this, ‘You’re either somebody in this profession whose trying to either be somebody or trying to do something.’ I think really over the last two and a half years, I’ve proven that my whole sole mission is to be here and to do something.”

IMO he's here to build his own Mt. Union type of program. Other than double his salary and be closer to family, there is nothing to build or do in Columbus....just maintain. We have a great state, a great town, a great campus, a great environment, and finally enough of a of a budget to be competitive. There's no better place in the country to raise a family.

Unfortunately, this won't stop the chatter because media people need something to talk about and opposing coaches will be using it as a weapon in recruiting circles.
