I disagree. There is plenty in there that OSU and particularly the AD wouldn't want him to say. Essentially, he threw Gene Smith under the bus.

I think this is purely self-preservation.

Agreed, no way was that written by OSU and AD. Much more likely it was Urban's lawyers and PR people.

Probably already discussed in the mega "Urban M" thread, but I have a lot of concerns about negative recruiting and how it will be used against Iowa State. Every recruit will be told CMC will be gone. ..

The only people speculating hard about MC are Dan patrick and Randy Peterson.

Oh for sure.

It is kind of unfortunate. Paul Rhoads had a good early start, and then had his legs cut out from under him with 2 years of realignment putting the question out there 'will they even be a BCS (in those days) school when you graduate'. Now we have a good start and we get this potential angle. Though on this one, you know that even without the OSU thing a lot of coaches would be pushing the 'he won't stay there, no one stays at ISU' angle, so the net change may not be as big.

I'm guessing when he looks a recruit and his parents in the eye, it will carry more weight than potential negative recruiting from skeevy coaches, writers and chat board posters.

I would think that Bob Stoops would be higher on OSU's list than Campbell. I think this is just Hawkeye hype to help us out of a coach (again).

So, fans aren't #1 for CMC!???

Good answer by him...but like someone else said it really won't be put away until OSU actually has a different head coach.

Randy Pete is such garbage. I kept wanting CMC to shove that phone right into RP's forehead.

And CMC can call them directly or go visit them and let them know the actuality of things.

Pretty sure Hoiberg's biggest turnoffs to recruits was him not being sure about his status but at least it was in person.

Coaches spreading deterrents about what other coaches' futures are can't be a new thing.

I am not so upset that Randy writes about this, but he does this stupid thing where he writes two opposite sides of a story at the same time. I was more upset about the Bain article headline and DM Register 'breaking news' saying that Campbell (sort of) addressed the Ohio State situation. He didn't sort of address it, he addressed it.

Yesterday's article was telling us to slow our roll with the Campbell to Ohio State talk. Today's story was that the buzz is never going to go away so we better get used to it until he does leave for Ohio State. Randy did the exact same thing with Hoiberg. One day he was writing that Hoiberg loved Iowa State and would be silly to leave. The next day, he'd write that Hoiberg hated coaching in college, was pretty much going to die of the heart condition unless he left, and that coaching in the NBA was his one true dream. I often wonder if Randy remembers that he writes both sides of a story or if he gets new information and then changes his mind.

Hines wrote basically the same article that Randy did today with the whole the Iowa State job is garbage and of course Campell would leave if he could. But that he said the right things.

And then CW tweets that the fans should just calm down about everything and acting like it is only the fans fueling this.

It's not inherently bad, it's what Urban Meyer needs to and should do. The poster thought it was written by OSU and the AD for Meyer and I just thought that was highly unlikely.

It also means that Ohio State and Meyer aren't working together on this yet.

Randy looked shell-shocked...like all of his burning gossip questions were immediately taken away. I wonder if he had any in reserve or if that whole statement put him on the sideline for that presser.

Love to see a commitment or two in the next couple weeks. That will be telling.
They almost have a full class and are probably being very picky on who they want the last few recruits to be. So no... No it wouldn't.
