Does anyone else worry about DSJ as the AHC?
No, from all accounts I hear he is a great coach, down to earth and connects well with guys. I think if everyone takes a step back and looks at the situation objectively this will all be a positive going forward. Just because someone appears relaxed doesn’t mean they are not a fierce competitor and good motivator. I like his approach.

Don't think he is. He has a pretty successful career going, but you never know. Where is Jay Borshel at now? He doesn't have much freestyle experience though. Backes would be an excellent choice if he came out of retirement.
Jay is in Marion , he has had concussion issues so not sure he would be able to coach at that level .

On the Cyclone Report last night on KXNO, the guys alluded to a physical altercation between coaches. Did that really happen? And was it a significant part of Zadick's dismissal? Or just a minor incident that wasn't itself a significant part of the problem? After all, wrestlers like to handle things physically.

I'm more worried about his recruiting and him now basically being the director of a major D1 program. This job involves A LOT more than being a good room coach.

Look at his social media accounts..he literally has nothing on his twitter profile that even makes it seem like he is a coach at ISU. Look at all of the other stud recruiters at top programs. They are all VERY active on social media. DSJ has basically not done anything on social media for months. In today's world, you HAVE to be doing this stuff. Simple likes and retweets of recruits goes a long ways. The old football staff is a prime example of how to not do stuff and the new football staff is a prime example of how to do stuff.

Just my opinion. I also understand a lot more goes into recruiting than just social media. But the AHC is a HUGE part of recruiting and that was one of the major reasons for the change that is currently happening from my understanding.

That was one of about 5+ reasons..and it wasn't even near one of the top reasons..

Having that news out there, it is good to be able to put it in context and not make more of it than we should. It was very weird how the KXNO guys talked about it. Very hypothetical in their language, but it was strange for them to even bring it up if there wasn't something. Thanks for putting it in context.

Couldn't agree more. Pretty scary actually. You have to be able to communicate and keep up with these kids. If you aren't, other coaches are. They like using social media. None of the coaches are active on social media like some of the other big teams.

I do agree you make good points. Hopefully those areas will be addressed. I guess my point is with the last regime we went the other way with decent recruiting (on paper) and lack of development. I really believe we have more “talent” than people think, but impatience when it comes to developing kids. Seems like there are a lot of college ready kids out of high school, but they may or may not develop further. Just my 2 cents, and I know times have changed somewhat.

I love Flap! Good stuff as always hombres. I used to think it was Zadick's bro as well. I have no clue nowadays.

Jason Bryant interviewed the man behind Mudflap awhile back. It's an interesting listen. He's just a normal fan who decided to create the persona.

Here's the interview: Link
