Are they looking to bring in an athlete or a coach? If they are going to hire an athlete, Gadson would be in line and a great option. If hiring someone to coach and build the RTC, they will likely need someone fully committed to the athletes.

I am not sure. I think he will see who is interested and put together the best fit possible. It might be delaying the hiring until next year. I think all options are open. I do not think he will move somebody like Ramos ahead of St John.

The lead of the CRTC needs some serious credentials imo. Kyven is need of a top flight coach to reach his own potential.

Again, I hope we are looking at someone that can roll with Kyven and the heavier weights. Iowa benefitted greatly by bringing in Berhow.
Credentials don't get any better that Nate Carr. IMO he definitely could coach up Kyven if competition is KG's goal/focus.

Another wild thought...To stay with that Hawks to Clone theme... if we need a lightweight guy I'd love to see Corey Clark in a C-RTC singlet or coaching shirt.

I think Nate would be great as the head RTC coach. Him and Kyven have a special relationship. I'd like to have the volunteer coach also be a resident athlete (Like the way Ramos is/was at UNC). I'd also, if not Kyven in that spot, would like someone outside of the IC room.. Give me someone from PSU or tOSU

Jake Varner as associate head coach?? Would he have any interest? He would be good with heavier weights and is a big name.

That would be a home run but I dont see it happening. It's a tough time to hire. However, we were paying Zadick $175k a year - thats crazy money in college wrestling - you'd think if that was the position we were filling we would have interest just for the fact alone.

One would think you could get him for decent money but it's going to be hard for a team to pay that kind of Jack for someone who doesn't technically have any coaching experience.

Prime time recruiting right now for top prospects. Not many left in the 2019 class. This definitely hurts our already minimal class for next year. Hopefully Metcalf is out there recruiting as we speak. Need a couple more kids to add to the room and build depth and competition.

I think everyone will be in Fort Dodge tomorrow for the social. Lots of sweet silent and live auction items. Great Pork Chop meal. Can buy tickets at the door of the Fort Dodge Opera House. VIP starts at 5 and General Admission at 6. Coaches speak at 7.

Can you get in on the auction online?

Not even close to the same

Can’t imagine their club athletes are making much more that 25-40k a year tops, maybe Gilman 50-60k, volunteer coach 75-100k tops and the RTC coach 100-125k. When you add it all up, likely about 400-500k a year. I’m sure there are other expenses but that seems feasible for ISU to have the same.

Didn’t realize that had so many athletes. I likely stand corrected on the annual budget above. Most of those athletes would be in the 25k range. So even with 10 athletes, 300-350k would be very close less coaches salaries.

If I understand correctly, many require health insurance also

The staff is on Takedown Radio right now... Metcalf and St John are co head assistants and they will be in search of a volunteer assistant that is also an athlete that will be competing for world titles.. Also said that they are not in a rush and that they are going after the right guy, not just going to fill the spot..

I am wondering if you just keep the position open and not rush to hire. Lots of teams are running on a 3 person staff and you still have Nate Carr and Kyven available on the CRTC side

What major programs run on a 3 person staff? I could see Carr taking the position on an interim basis for this season if allowed.
