I honestly don't get the backlash from some people. Would you want to play a FBS school on Dec 1st if were sitting at 5-6 and needing a win for bowl eligibility?

Who the hell cares if its Incarnate Word. Complaining about wanting a 12th game and complaining about waivers being denies AND THEN complaining about getting a 12th game with an FCS school... holy hell people.

Before the SDSU game, there was chatter along the lines of "why does ISU always play top 5 FCS schools, why not an easy FCS school". Can't please all people.

And? Beggers can't be choosers. We scheduled a team that had to cancel a game to play us. We obviously were scraping the bottom of the barrel. This is a great opportunity for the freshman to play a lot in Jack Trice Sstadium, and likely something to keep them working hard and motivated all year. Couldn't be happier they got another game.

That said we'll see if I go. Gonna be dang cold.

It was in the 50’s in north Iowa last year on December 1.

Any chance the rights to this game could get purchased by an outlet other than Cyclone.tv? It'd be going against some conference championship game, but could be a good time fill for the network without a 1 pm game.

No. TV Contract allows us to have one game on Tier 3, and ISU isnt going to give that up.

UIW football budget is ~4.5m. ISU football budget is ~22m.

$300,000 is a lot less than I thought we'd have to pay but probably more than UIW would get from playing UNA that same date.

Looking at all the cancellations happening from the Hurricane, I expected our options would start to open up a bit, but I was starting to expect to have to play someone like Marshall or similar in G5, rather than getting a FCS school signed up, although there have been some cancellations there too.
This is a big win for JP. While yes, it may or may not be a cupcake, everyone else schedules cupcakes. And only looks at all FCS schools as cupcakes when they see our schedule. So when we schedule the top 5 schools year after year in the FCS, people around the country don't see that, they just see an FCS cupcake because that is all they are playing and used to in their games. We might as well just do as they do.

This is pretty embarrassing IMO.

We won 7 games last year in the regular season. If we can't match that or at least get to 6 this year, even in 11 games, then we don't deserve to go to a bowl. If we need this game to get to 6, we're not deserving at all IMO.

Basically CMC and JP are telling the team that they don't believe they can get to at least 6 wins this year without a cupcake. Just man up and get to 6 wins in 11 games.

And for all the Hawk fans laughing at this..... seriously?? You're schedule is probably still easier than ISU's this year even with us adding Incarnate Word. We'll both be playing 1 FCS school still, although Iowa's will be a tougher test, but our conference schedule is much tougher than Iowa's.
