Tre Jackson commits

Nixon, Haliburton, Jackson, Horton-Tucker, Leech, Lewis, and Griffin are going to be a lot of talent for the guard and wing spots the year after next on paper.
We will see how much experience (save for Nixon) and how effective they are going to be by that point, however. Probably going to be four rotational spots for PG, G, and SF to fill with NWB, Talley, Shayok, and likely Wigginton all moving on after next season.
If we do not show much next year, then yeah, things might start feeling dicey.

It's completely possible that we "show much" this year, and then not next year. Unfortunately, things aren't totally linear.
Let's also remember that the guard roster the year after next is far from set. I fully expect another guard will be added in the spring if Wigginton/Lard goes pro or if there is attrition. As other have stated there is opportunity that should be attractive to a very good player to come in and contribute day one.
Minor note: Prohm singled out the play of Hailburton and THT impressing in early practice last night on Cyclones Insiders show. I expected THT to come in an contribute day 1 but the consistent positive reports on Tyrese over the summer has me thinking he'll be ready for some minutes earlier than I originally thought. Obviously we will need to see it in B12 play but the staff may have found a steal with Tyrese and hopefully did in Tre too.

I think Prohm will try to keep the classes as balanced as he can. So, sit out transfer vs grad transfer vs JUCO may be determined as much by what class the attrition comes from as anything else.
There’s definitely a lot to sell to a guard looking for early usage. We lose a lot of usage and outside of optimistic message board lineup threads there are a lot of minutes available.
Related to that, TH is going to hard to keep out of the rotation this year
We have obviously never seen him play a minute of college ball.
Yet, I think if you forced all of us to put together dumb (and fun nonetheless) lineups for the year after next, he would be the only one that is 100% starting across all nominations. He has the ranking and all indications so far have been very positive.
Starting the year after next obviously translates into significant PT this season.
I imagine he is likely our star after Wigginton and/or Lard.

I do as well, and a great attitude is a force multiplier for talent.
I don't really expect THT to be around more then 2 years if the hype is real. I expect Lewis, Griffin and Conditt to all be starting in 20-21 (if that's what you mean by a year after next), could see Lard bouncing after next year as well.
THT likely needs to be all of that. He’s a lock to get significant minutes this year.
TH isn’t a lock, but if he has the pg skills we hope, he too could get in the rotation this year.
THT will be in the rotation from day one. Top 50 players are given every opportunity to play right away due to their talent and for future recruiting. Players with his accolades and other schools interests are expected to play early and I am sure that is the plan the staff has for Talen. I wouldn't be surprised if Prohm hasn't already promised him to be the 6th man with the possibility of cracking the starting rotation all part of recruiting. (Minor worry, not giving THT that chance could hurt future Chi town recruiting too.)
You’re overstating the promises given out by a guy like Prohm. All he needs to do is promise to let the best guys play regardless of experience, and THT will do the rest.
Diante Garrett, who turned into a very nice player for us by the time he was a junior and a senior, was a 88.26% coming out of high school.
Haliburton was a 91.48%, and Jackson is (now, up a 1% recently) a 86.78%. I figure either or both of them could follow a nice development pattern like DG.

We can't use TH for Tyrese or I will be endlessly confused.
Regardless if there was a promise or not, I feel confident their was an understanding expressed that THT will be in the line for impact minutes with a good chance to start from both the player and Prohm to come ISU. I don't see any scenario outside of injury where he's not getting 25 minutes from game 1 and really prove he isn't ready to be removed from the Top 7 rotation.
Good debate and I respect your position, I just don't think a top 50 player commit to a school with out expectations of playing major minutes.
The obvious comparison were that situation occurred from CFH tenure would be Matt Thomas freshman year. Difference would THT versatility, length and athleticism he can find minutes anywhere and should be able to defend well even if his shot isn't B12 level immediately. Matt had those limitations when his shot wasn't falling as a freshman thus need to limit his minutes.
Going back to Tyrese. Monte freshman season would be great to see. A PG the coaches initiated thought could red shirt and after performing earned minutes and later a major role on post season team. I don't expect that considering NWB, LW, Shayok, even some THT would all be with the ball thus there isn't the same opportunity. If Haliburton does crack it would bode well for the next three years.
