If Purdy is as good as he looked Saturday Mitchell looks like a candidate to convert to receiver to me.
I'm thinking we pay Campbell & Co. a few million a yr to decide these things.
We will still need a backup QB for the next several years . . .

I think he gets good minutes in 4 games at both WR and some special QB package and redshirts.

I wonder if we see a package this year when they are both in backfield? Unlike the LanRam package with Kempt under center, I assume Purdy and Mitchell would be threats to BOTH throw and run. From high school video Mitchell seems to have some arm talent as well so I don’t know think we should write him off as QB yet.
Maybe he will be the wrinkle this week for WVU. Him and Purdy both on th field. Purdy hands it off to Mitchell, then he drops back and passes it to Butler.
Zeb's fine in that capacity.
If Re-al has the athletic talent and speed that's been touted, you get his ass on the field.
With the new redshirt rule I think we see him in some situations at some point this season but I doubt they will play him more than the 4 games and burn his redshirt. If we can get bowl eligibility locked in before the Incarnate Word game I think a lot of true freshmen are going to get some PT in that game.
Given the success Matt had at converting a QB to middle linebacker he is preparing Mitchell to be Lima's heir apparent anchoring the D-line.
I wonder if CMC does keep these kind of things in his back pocket for the bigger games to unleash something that the opponent hasn't seen. Who knows, it could Re-al-ly happen! Lame pun, I know.
I don't think that was the case with Purdy. I think the staff wanted to redshirt him if possible, but came to the conclusion he gave us a better chance to win than Zeb did.
