Before this was released and we had only our 3 non-conf games scheduled, I noticed Week 2 having nothing and wondered if they'd start conf play that early or if it would be a bye.

Without looking at the other teams schedules, I would guess there could still be a possibility games are moved into BYE weeks if necessary (better TV?).

Pretty good schedule. I see we are back to the old Big 12 days of playing OU and Texas back-to-back....

Yeah, but thankfully the program is in position to compete with those teams now.

I think I'd rather have the first bye week after the Iowa game (swap ULM for bye) but can't complain too much.

With the struggles we have had during the first few weeks this year, I'm okay with a very early bye for next year as we get our act together. And I like having another in November for fine-tuning and healing.

I had wondered that as well.

Would love to drop say... KSU in that slot instead of having a november 30 game.

I'm not so sure we wont have 0-1 losses going into OU. Iowa will be a toss-up as always, but at home I give us the edge. I can't see TCU making too big of a jump, and again being at home helps. WVU will take a step back without Grier and Sills. I can't see OSU getting much better, and frankly I'd be amazed if Gundy hasn't moved on after this year.
Something tells me that West Virginia will be welcoming us with open arms next year.

The OU game has potential Thursday/Friday night game potential. Both teams have a bye the week before. I can’t recall what the rules are with that and if the home team has to agree or if it exclusively ESPN’s decision.

Exactly, that early bye is great for the team. Get in some live action against a team that should be an easy win, tune up through the bye week and then beat the snot out of the hawks

Speaking of the hawks, curious which team would be viewed to have the scheduling advantage before that game

ISU with UNI, bye, Cy-hawk

or

Iowa with Miami (OH), Rutgers, Cy-Hawk.

Speculation in the recent thread about College GameDay coming to Ames is down to these:
Oct. 5 TCU
Oct. 26 Oklahoma State
Nov. 16 Texas
---> I know the CyHawk game would be a possibility, but I hope it isn't wasted on that. I have nothing against the rivalry series itself, I just don't want to share the spotlight.
