Probably jumping the gun here but this has potential to have maybe the most actual depth since the Elite Eight team.

Not that it matters for the sake of this discussion, but assuming you're talking about the Fizer, Tinsley etc E8 team, they went 7 *MAYBE* 8 deep as far as meaningful minutes. You could call that team a lot of things, but deep wouldn't be one of them in my eyes.

Oh, no doubt. The huge improvement is where we're going with 6/7/8/9 off the bench. I don't think it's an overstatement to say that every option is a big improvement.

The hidden benefit is the team is now able to fully practice against other B12 quality competition as the coached want. That and returning the players being together a full year rather than trying to integrate 3 or 4 players into the system on the fly should pay dividends early in the season.
We'll have to see how it affects the team but early reports that the chemistry is better than last could also translate to the court in 15 days. (yes the season starts 2 weeks from tomorrow!)

In 2014-2015 the roster was comprised of:
Georges Niang (NBA player)
Monte Morris (NBA player)
Bryce Dejean-Jones (NBA player)
Abdel Nader (NBA player)
Naz Mitrou-Long (NBA two-way player)
Jameel McKay (overseas)
Dustin Hogue (overseas)
Matt Thomas (overseas)
Daniel Edozie (overseas)
Clayton Custer (MVC POTY)

and we also had Deonte Burton redshirting

Yeah, I'd say you're jumping the gun

That team could beat anybody in the country when it wanted to.

Then it could turn around and lose to anybody in the country when it wanted to, too.

To be fair, there were consistency issues all over the place on that team...

-- BDJ was an all-timer head case
-- Nader was not that consistent yet and did not start a game
-- same with Matt Thomas, both were much better the next season
-- McKay was only eligible for 2/3rds of the season
-- Naz was hurt much of the second half of the season before major surgeries
-- Edozie and Custer never played much
-- Hogue decided to play away from the basket way too much compared to the previous season

I knew what Monté and Georges would give you any given night that season.

The remainder? Quite the mystery.

They could make KU or OU squeal like a piggy but then lose to awful USC, TTU, and UAB teams.

Talented, sure, but how effective and consistent was the roster on the whole?

Where's the depth at the 4 and 5?

Edozie was as effective as guys like Shirley and Rancik?

Did '14-15 have multiple guards who could both handle inside and shoot the 3?

And a player red shirting is depth for that season?

Playing 8 guys regularly for an entire season is deep by today’s standards.

How about 21 minutes for Haliburton? He was probably the least heralded freshman, but it would appear Prohm likes him. More minutes than Lewis and Griffin.

I was referring to your original post:

You are very much jumping the gun to say this year has the most actual depth since the elite eight team.

Eyes of the beholder. That will catch the bulk of the minutes in most games and will make for a perfectly good team in a lot of situations but if that's all you have with no quality on your bench beyond that you're not set up very well to handle foul trouble, or more importantly, injuries. Whether you're right or not, from a perception point of view I don't think you'll ever hear the talking heads call a team deep when they only play 8 guys.

Testifying
Randy is reporting that Prohm didn't let Lard play in the scrimmages and it wasn't for health or medical reasons.

Yeah, that 2000 team had 8 guys all over 12 minutes a game. What made them short was losing Rancik for 15 games and Shirley for 8 games. Being one post player short for nearly two thirds of the season made them seem like they were always playing on the edge of a knife. It also meant that Eustachy just relied on his iron men: Nurse - 35.3 min/g, Horton - 34.8, Fizer - 33.6, Tinsley - 32.8.

From what was posted before, it is likely the punishment that Prohm said he would serve from before, I don't think it is anything new
I don't remember Prohm saying he would serve a punishment. In fact, I remember him saying the opposite. Something along the lines of not having any restrictions once he returned from the wellness clinic.
