Diante Garrett, who turned into a very nice player for us by the time he was a junior and a senior, was a 88.26% coming out of high school.

Haliburton was a 91.48%, and Jackson is (now, up a 1% recently) a 86.78%. I figure either or both of them could follow a nice development pattern like DG.
They do seem like similar prospects.

The Jackson-Haliburton backcourt will at least be better than the Petersen-DG one.

Those Chewie teams had some nice big men around like Brackins and Hamilton.

But their guard play was such trash in comparison.

Which was funny because the actual guys -- Garrett, Staiger, Christopherson, and even Petersen, who was a great spot-up shooter -- thrived under a better system.

Regardless if there was a promise or not, I feel confident their was an understanding expressed that THT will be in the line for impact minutes with a good chance to start from both the player and Prohm to come ISU. I don't see any scenario outside of injury where he's not getting 25 minutes from game 1 and really prove he isn't ready to be removed from the Top 7 rotation.

Good debate and I respect your position, I just don't think a top 50 player commit to a school with out expectations of playing major minutes.

The obvious comparison were that situation occurred from CFH tenure would be Matt Thomas freshman year. Difference would THT versatility, length and athleticism he can find minutes anywhere and should be able to defend well even if his shot isn't B12 level immediately. Matt had those limitations when his shot wasn't falling as a freshman thus need to limit his minutes.

Going back to Tyrese. Monte freshman season would be great to see. A PG the coaches initiated thought could red shirt and after performing earned minutes and later a major role on post season team. I don't expect that considering NWB, LW, Shayok, even some THT would all be with the ball thus there isn't the same opportunity. If Haliburton does crack it would bode well for the next three years.

I would be really surprised at that. I think TH and GC are going to be the “will these guys redshirt?” guys that everyone likes to throw out about 8-10 games in. Because we redshirt so many true freshman.

Versatility is the key word there. He really exemplifies something we were missing last year (a guy with size that can play small or big).

Blurb on Tre with some video by Shun Williams.

Tre Jackson 6’1 CG Blythwood (SC) committed to Iowa State

Jackson was one of the elite shooters that we had an opportunity to see this spring and summer. His shot is crisp with a high release and he gets it off quick. He has a high basketball IQ and knows how to move without the ball to get open. He has improved his dribble-drive game does a good job of getting to the basket. Finally, with his competitive nature he should be able to contribute right away at Iowa State.

Short but nice video. Release is high and compact. Even on the move he doesn't drift. Exactly what we'll need to replace Wiggy, Nixon and Shayok.

I ALWAYS want shooters.... at every position if possible. So to hear that Tre can knock it down is very exciting.

To me, his shot looks similar to Naz's. That's a good thing obviously.

I think it's a fair comparison considering recruiting profile and strengths. I completely agree about having shooters. Guys that know how to get buckets are my first priority as a very important fan talent evaluator.

Looks like a tremendous shooter with a wicked jab-step and drive or pull-up. Great ball handler and passer. I guess I don't really care how he is ranked, because he strikes me as one of the guys we would see at K-State where I end up saying "Why haven't I heard of him, because this guy can flat out PLAY."

Cheers

I didn’t see any signs of “great ball handler and passer”. Good enough to get by, yes. Really, really pure shooter, though. I thought he was smoother at that spect than Tandy—who is a good shooter.
