I would venture to guess that Campbell and Pollard will sit down after the year and redo the contract that is still only a year old. Keep paying him competitively, pay his staff competitively, and give him the resources he needs to compete for conference championships (facilities, etc) and I think he will be happy in Ames for a long time.

I can answer the Jimbo question.

aTm signed him to a $75 million fully guaranteed contract. He gets the full amount no matter how many years he is there or how many games he wins or loses.

Big 12...
Herman $5.5M
Gundy $5.0M
Patterson $4.8M
Riley $4.8M
Kingsbury $3.7M
Holgorsen $3.6M
Snyder $3.5M
Campbell $3.5M
Beatty $1.7M

Didn't see the Baylor coach on the list.

Is Campbell underpaid? Yes, but not by much...should be in the $4.0 to $4.5M range. Average salary of the #25 coach is $4.0M.

Holgorsen also is a deal for West Virginia.

Not exactly sure.

does Brian kelly really make that little?
Jimbo has a 68million dollar buyout?

Is CMC being paid fairly?

At the start of the season, yes CMC was being paid fairly. He had a solid season, but only one for us. You pay well, but you don't want to get the CPR situation where it kinda flames out (even though CMC did more in that year than CPR ever did). Now after seeing that the success is truly looking to be sustained, you draft that type of contract with him. If he is going to use us as a stepping stone, 10MM probably wouldn't hold him. So you get him competitive with the big boys and make it tailored to what he sees as most important.

Interesting that the article says Brian Kelly information came from tax returns. As a private school, they could not get salary info directly from ND. I would think that figure ($2.1 million) could not be possibly true. If so, ND is cheap as ****.

Jimbo signed ten years at total comp of $75 million, so a buyout of $68 million after one year is not surprising. Will fall significantly each year.

How the hell would they get his tax returns? Strikes me as covering for a source.

Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if CMC agrees to a relatively small raise but gives his assistance a nice bump. He is also going to need some money to play with to reel in a quality OC.

This is where it becomes if we have a Bill snyder type or not. We don't want to go cheap, but also can't whoar ourselves out completely. If our TV money increases decent, then a 500k raise to get him into that 4 number shows thanks. Honestly, if the stars align, like they could; next year could be the monster year. And its the year my son will be playing at a smaller school so I won't have tickets. Just my luck.

Wow, there are some head scratchers on that list...Frost and Lovie making more than Dantonio or Franklin?? Ed Ogeron the 9th highest paid coach in the SEC? I'd assume Campbell and Holgerson both get bumped over 4M pretty shortly.

When you back out the theoretical cut of the agents CMC is back up in pretty good standing.
