Okay, be honest. What was your initial reaction when CMC was hired?

I liked that it was an Ohio staff with no connections to Iowa State. Our football program has a lot of baggage, so it was good to bring in a staff with no connection to our victimization mentality. It was also important to bring in midwesterners who understand how to recruit and develop players in the heartland. I also like the youthfulness of the staff; I felt they would have a firm grasp of spread tactics and how to run it effectively. The only thing I was skeptical about was Heacock. He's let me down a bit over the last two games; let's bring the heat on December 28th and I'll be right back in his corner.

My reaction at first was ok lets wait and see what this guy can do. After talking with a buddy who bets A LOT of MACTION football, he said that was the best hire we could have made. He said it wasn't a matter of IF he could turn things around, it was when. He was pretty high on him. Then thoughts continue with the line of "I hope we can keep him."

Kind of surprised you would say this. I think Heacock gets the benefit of the doubt. The guy has been terrific and can't really be blamed for the last couple of games. He can put together a great defensive game plan, but unless the players get up for the game or execute, it's all for naught.

My reaction was fairly positive because he had pretty good success at Toledo, was a young guy and was bringing his entire coaching staff with him. The last one was the biggie, because every time someone hires an assistant coach as a head coach it is a big adjustment for them to be a head coach, and then you have all those assistants coming from different programs.

I hope we cook up some new blitzes and coverage schemes for Wazzu, because teams started to figure out ways to attack our defense over the last few weeks of the season. Kansas State was having their way with us until Heacock started bringing more pressure. I'm guessing his philosophy is something along the lines of: Let's see if they can work their way down the field without screwing up first. We'll wait until things get dicey before we start gambling.

I'd like to see us be aggressive right out the gate, rather than allowing the other team to get comfortable early.

I was glad that it was kind of a "tear down rebuild". Honestly CM didn't really move my needle like others have stated but it was a huge step up from the hard hats.

I liked that he was young and enthusiastic and I liked that he had tried to recruit David Montgomery to Toledo...other than that it was a total wait and see.

Probably the same reaction I had to Prohm hire. In hindsight I should have felt like it was a 100/100 score. If we can win in the NCAA tourney this year with Prohm's guys I'll put his hire right there with CMC.

I was happy because we FINALLY hired someone that had head coaching experience and was bringing his entire staff with him. Continuity is huge in CFB. DM, GC, PR were all assistant coaches.

The CPR era ending was a very dark and lonely hole.. I didn't really get excited until I saw the way he recruited his first class.

Guys like Chase Allen committing to us over Michigan, Jaquan Bailey choosing us over Tennessee and Va Tech, and Deshante Jones picking us over the hometown Cincinnati was were I really started to get excited

Holy **** PJ Fleck is insufferable to listen to talk. The guy literally says nothing of substance and takes coach speak to a whole other level.

The only time Campbell has said anything of substance in an interview is when he was hired, and when he does his more candid interviews with Williams. Most of his pressers are Coachspeak 101, and I have no problem with that.

It's funny how many of us were skeptical about CMC bringing his entire staff & now we're all like "We've got to do everything we can to keep this staff together".

I was in the cautiously optimistic camp. When I saw how all the coaches were going non-stop on the recruiting trail like freaking energizer bunnies, I was sold. The effort those dudes put into their jobs is inspiring.

First though was great, another MAC level guy that will have mediocre success at ISU and jump ship at the first big P5 to come knocking on the door. I was prepared to keep my nutcup out.

Glad to be proven wrong and have thrown the nut cup away.

Can't remember but after seeing him speak I thought if this guy can't get it done here then it can't be done here, period!

Kudos to JP!
