Rec for Dead Again. Such a different movie, good suspense, and highly unknown in my experience.
This comes out today. A bit disappointed won’t be able to see it on opening night because of the ISU game.
Just saw this. Was absolutely fantastic. Would recommend anyone to go and see it. The lead actress, Lupita Nyong’o, was phenomenal. I thought the girl that played the daughter, Shahadi Wright Joseph, was really good too.
Wouldn’t classify it as a horror, though. More thriller/suspense. Which also got me thinking, how would you classify a horror?
I honestly don’t know. For me it’s one of those “when you see it, you know” kind of things. And I feel like it changes. Like, Hitchcock used to absolutely be horror, but I don’t think in these days I’d consider it horror.

Also, while not a racial message like I originally expected, there is VERY much a political message to the movie (don’t worry, it’s not a “one side bad, the other good” kind of political message.
What was scarier? The movie or the ISU game?

I hope to see this. I loved Get Out.
The movie was about equally horrific as the officiating.
My only complaint is the tone change in the second act, but don’t know how else he could have made the message he wanted without it.
Saw it at a matinee yesterday. Initially thought it was great, but a day after, just very good. He is a very talented film maker though and look forward to more.
Read something a while about that he made a boat load of cash on "Get out" low cost movie that made 150M profit. Anyway, he's basically gotten the green light from studios AND has a ton of his own money to play with. Pretty much expect him to be churning out some good stuff over the coming years....
Youtube promoted a clip to me of him on Jimmy Fallon. (IIRC) He said the biggest difference between Get Out and Us was his confidence it would actually get made. He feared Get Out would get shut down but he knew Us was going to get made.
