As I stated, I didnt take the impact of his carelessness seriously enough as it pertains to young players mirroring the established senior leader on the team. With actual results, I now feel differently.

And he's not a problem as a teammate; everyone loves him. He's just careless and not mentally built to handle the role he is in. But his shotmaking skills absolutely increase KU's chances to win.

Self desperately wants to bury him at the end of the bench; you can see that in his benching for the vast majority of the 1st half against KSU for multiple boneheaded turnovers. But he cant afford to just not play him at all because we need his shooting.

It will be interesting to see what KU looks like next year because there is a chance they could lose Azubuike and Lawson as well. There is always the chance Grimes leaves too. I think ESPN still has him as a top 50 prospect. So if he doesn't mind being a second rounder he could go.
We go through the same exercise every offseason. We could lose a ton of players or everyone but Vick could come back. Who knows.

Vick has a better turnover percentage than Agbaji, Grimes and Dotson

You are so delusional!! You saying that KU is not doing anything wrong is comical. Any college sports program will always be the core of any type of wrong doing issue. Just blaming it on a "handler", assistant coach, etc. is total absurd. Your denial of this is just like that of anyone with any type of sickness that they can't admit to. Admitting KU basketball is in the wrong here is the first step of your recovery program. When it does come out, fellow CF'ers will be on you like vultures. Be prepared!
I neve r said KU wasnt doing anything wrong. I said that there is no evidence that KU has been directly involved in the specific violations committed by DeSousa's guardian.

I am just not big on speculation, especially when formal decisions on violations are being made by law enforcement, academic institutions or governing bodies.

There's more to being careless than a turnover. Going the wrong direction, resulting in a pass from a PG to where you were supposed to be counts as a turnover for the PG but os the result of Vick's carelessness.

Forgetting to keep track of the guy you are suplosed to cover on a switch doesn't show up in your stats but is an example of Vick's carelessness.

But yoi know all of this and still launch a dumb argument based on some dumb stat you found just because you're THAT GUY. It is why I have you on ignore and will ignore the rest of your responses.

Trust me I'm no fan of Vick at all but to put this on him is pretty careless of you. This is Self's team and Self built it. The blame falls on him

Yeah, but the difference is KU doesn't have a great recruiting class coming in as of now. FBI thing is stunting their 2019 recruiting. They need to land Hurt.

I have provided already the list of multiple reasons why KU is in their current situation. Vick is just one of a half dozen reasons. I have made no attempt to put this all on him.

Sure, it would be perfect if KU had a junior PG ready to step right in to the starting role but what recruit was going to spend his freshman year behind National PoY Mason (with Jr. Graham also playing) and then their soph season behind 1st team AA Graham? It's the unfortunate negative impact of having consecutive years of an elite player at PG.

I LOVE Devon Dotson's game. He is going to be a stud next year and has many great moments this year. But he's a freshman who still makes a lot of freshman mistakes. It's why you rarely see freshmen start at PG on great teams.

Grimes? Again, another player who I think will be really good next year. Same with Agbaji. But like Dotson, they still make a lot of freshment mistakes. And freshmen mistakes can be covered over if you have an established senior leader like KU normally has but unfortunately they just flat out don't have that this year.

I am not blamimg anyone for anything; just recognizing the situation we are in and the consequences of them on the team, teammates and the results.

Talent plays to their talent level at home when the crowd is rocking and the players are comfortable. Talent plays to their experience and leadership level on the road when things go sideways and it gets hard to beat even below average teams. We'll see if KU can learn quickly from their experience to date and change their leadership roles.

They are down but they arent eliminated yet. I wouldn't pick KU to finish 1st right now but it wouldn't surprise me by any means.

KU fans are used to heading into the late signing period lean. It's way too early for me to even care aboit next year's recruits let alone worry about them. Hurt would be a good signing for sure, though. He's super skinny but very skilled. I like our chances with him.

Way up there
Every person who pays attention to basketball would laugh in your face if you told them you though Self was only a good coach because of his provided talent. Comically lazy take. He is a fantastic teacher of the game as well as an excellent x's and o's coach. There probably less than 5 coaches, pro or college, better at calling plays out of a tumeout or stoppage, than Self.

Claiming otherwise just tags you as having no knowledge of what you're actually watching.

Anyone not a KU fan would do the same to the idea that Self had no idea Adidas was paying kids to come play for him.

Ku has nine 4 and 5-star guys active presently. Self has been successful because Adidas has been buying a wealth of talent for his crooked program year after bloody year.

But even with a huge talent advantage today, it's not enough to guarantee his streak continues because 5-star Desousa and 4-star Dok are not available for play.

By comparison, K-State has zero 4-star players. Not sure what ISU's number is? Give Ku's talent to any top level coach and tell me the results would be different than Self has achieved? Likely better.

Lightfoot 4-star
Vick 4-star
K Lawson 4-star
D Lawson 4-star

Be honest. Do you really think Kansas getting walloped will change ANYTHING.......

Yes. Self and all of his assistants will no longer use telephones or computers. Shoebox drops will only be confirmed by word of mouth, a task possibly passed off to Paige.

I know you've had al couple of stressful days with the loss to KSU and Vick going to LaLa land, but that was a little weak.
Nah, not stressed
At this point I am just laughing at the absurdity of it all. It's all there is left to do to outlast all this nonsense.

I had a dream last night that the underground tunnel I walk through from my parking garage to my office building transformed into a giant bounce house filled with 10 year old boys hopped up on massive amounts of Monster energy drinks and wearing oversized boxing gloves. More than a city block of getting punched from every direction by crazed, screaming children that morally and fundamentally, you can't punch back.

I don't think I need to see a therapist to sort out the origins of that dream. Personally, professionally, politically, the Chiefs, the Jayhawks. It's been a long winter. I think I need a vacation.
