Well I started off with some Weezer and Pixies after a great show last night. That sent me down an alternative rabbit hole. Here are the last three songs I've listened to.

The UK Surf version of Wave of Mutilation. Pixies played the fast version last night, but I've always loved this slower one.

The Noise Rock genre sent me along the path to Sonic Youth.

Then I mellowed a bit, but still had that edge to it with Dinosaur Jr.

This reminds me that I'd been listening to a lot of Witch Witch (2006) lately. I'm always coming back to it, thirteen years later. Anyway, you might know J Mascis moved from guitar to drums for the Witch records.

I've been a fan of Andrew Bird since "Mysterious Production of Eggs" and this song continues to deliver on his multilayered pop approach.

For the 90s music folks in here, he played violin in the Squirrel Nut Zippers.

As a remix new life is breathed into to this Doors B-sider, Indian Summer- eerie, evocative-bootleg.

All those sounds are so nostalgia inducing ...8th grade, "discovering music" through the alternative radio station. My tastes have broadened since then (i.e add jazz and classical, still not hip hop or country) but I still come back to those and am always happy I was that age at that time.

I liked that Sonic Youth one you posted and the classic Dinosaur Jr song.

I've really been enjoying the new-ish Dinosaur Jr albums 'Farm' and "I Bet On Sky" the past few years. Especially the slower more mellow jam songs:

I Bet On Sky album playlist:

Especially the song "I Don't Wanna Go There"

I like Andrew Bird too. That ending is a great "exemplary" track of his style ("if you like this, you will like...")

I think this is my favorite album of his - Armchair Apocrypha:

It seems like there are some sounds (especially transitions) that only he or Sufjan Stevens can make....as in "while you lie on your deathbed" chords like this:

Nice. I listened to Pieces shortly after Feel the Pain.

Watching and listening just out of curiosity.

It kind of sucks that I wasn't an adult when this was happening.
