He is getting paid almost the same as Bill Self, Roy Williams and Jay Wright he just stepped into fishbowl. If he doesnt know that then... The 12 highest paid coach in D-1 and 2nd in Big 10 the expectations are Final 4/ Nat'l Title getting paid like that no matter where you are at.

He’s going to have to win something. Nebbie just upped the ante for their men’s hoops program. He will have good will for about 3 years. Then he will have to show some real tangible results.

Its funny to watch people trip over themselves to spin this. Other than hawk fan ********, NO other fan base in the nation rooted for Iowa State’s demise more than knu, and some rooted as hard if not more than hawk fans. Ironically, Fred was the coach at Iowa State during that particular round of re-alignment.

This is BS. Husker fans packed their arena for a mediocre team this year.
Most people think all Nebraska fans are like the ones from western Iowa who only support Nebraska football. It's hard for them to understand there are actually people with ties to the university who are fans of everything Nebraska. I know plenty of Husker fans that love Big Red basketball. They have been waiting for something to cheer about for a long time.

If the opportunity arises in the the next seven years with first round seeding, it will be Iowa State vs Nebraska. It’s almost a guarantee. Let’s just hope they’ve gotten their first win before it happens.

I'm not worried about Fred doing big things at Nebby. He's going to make the tourney his second year, get a sweet 16 appearance his third and then slide into the void left at Kansas when Bill finally gets nabbed. Fred is just trying to move somewhere where he can make a splash, and easily commute to KU until he gets his house sold.

C'mon people, you can't see this?

I'd still take that over facing a prickly Iowa team.

I'd be surprised if he had that much success by year 3 honestly

I see him at Michigan state. Just getting a feel for the conference.

Nebraska is where head coaches go to become assistant coaches. Nebraska isn’t and hasn’t ever been a stepping stone job. Name one coach that has left on their own to pursue a better job. Nebraska has never won an NCAA tournament game. Fred can do and deserves better.
That's more a take on how poorly they have done hiring coaches than how poor a program they are. Fred has as much opportunity to succeed there as he had at Iowa State. Both were failing year after year to make the ncaa tourney. Both have good fan support in their home arena (Nebraska averaged 15,492 per game last year, good for 11th in the nation while ISU averaged 14,121 per game, 19th in the nation last season). Same recruiting pool.

If Fred wanted to do "better" than this, my guess is that he would have. He could have tried to get other jobs such as the UCLA job, etc... He took the job he wanted. Good for him, good for Nebraska.

Lived in SE Nebraska for a year for my first job out of ISU.

Can assure you that a majority of Nebraska fans I met... even in that part of the state, did not give a fiddlers f**k about basketball.

I'm sure Freddy has learned some things during his stint in Chicago.
However, If he doesn't like the fishbowl, he hasn't learned much about that issue because Go Big FRed fans will be a fishbowl on steroids.
Has he learned how to coach?

Well, that's the only way it's going to work for him.

Travis Hines reported with inside information with Hoiberg that Tamin Lipsey will visit Hoiberg in Lincoln on April 1 and verbally committed to place Nebraska on a list of final teams, citing being close with Hoiberg and Hoiberg's roots in Ames.

I know this: the number of individual donations to Creighton and Kansas basketball is going down.
