At the end, they presented him with a framed press release from when Fred's grandpa was hired. Yep, they totally nailed it with the family thing. I'll tip my cap to their AD for hitting a soft spot with Fred.

This whole situation just makes me sick.
Is it too soon to point out that the people that are angry about all the coverage of the press conference are the ones that are watching the press conference?
I'm angry about the local Des Moines coverage of the press conference, but I didn't watch that ****. Of course, I'm in this thread, so that's just as bad

However, our coach is Prohm and I only care about what is good for Cyclone Nation; not Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska or their coaches!
Key word................."attendance". Make no mistake.....they will be reporting.
What questions did you want them to ask? It's ******* stupid that they all went over there like little *******, but they asked the questions you'd expect Iowa media members to ask.
Count me in as astounded that there are that many members of the Iowa media there. Honest question, do Iowa State fans really care? That ship sailed 5 years ago.
Can’t wait for the stories from these same guys in 8 months about how ISU fans need to move on from Hoiberg.

They should have asked him if his attitude has changed regarding recruitment or if he feels his health has improved enough to coach men's college BB. Since those were the specific reasons for leaving ISU.
Fred's probably asking himself "why tf are these Iowa reporters here?".
Imagine if the role was reversed and we hired someone like Fred to ISU and had all these out of state reporters at the press conference. It would be weird.
If Fred referred to himself as a bug eater, it would help with my feelings towards all of this.
I was kinda surprised at a couple of the questions, but not surprised they attended. And I know most on here don't want to hear about it, but from an ISU fan perspective I was at least happy how much Iowa State success ended up being brought up and also his complimentary words for Coach Prohm, whether some of you think it was coach speak or not. I feel like fans can resort to supporting OUR PRESENT coach more than ever and handling the awkward surprise of 'Hoiberg next door' with as much grace, confidence, and class as Prohm ALWAYS has.
