I find this comment comical. Lindell's return just so happened to coincide with the start to Big 12 play. The pre-Lindell team would have won 5-6 Big 12 games. The pre-Lindell team lost to a very bad Arizona team and beat very bad Illinois and SDSU teams. It then beat up on a bunch of no-names. So let's consider the competition a bit before suggesting the pre-Lindell squad was better.
Can someone tell where all of you message board posters are the head coach of a college basketball team?
I personally have been on both sides of this discussion trying to think my way through it. The only real criticism I have is I think he should have put Lindell into the game sooner when we often started out stagnant in the 2nd half. Always waiting till we were past the first media timeout seemed arbitrary and extended our scoring droughts.
Prohm was far from perfect this year in managing this team. Lard and Wigginton struggled with consistency on at least one end of the floor. I think the best we played was Nov-Jan so I see why he did what he did.
Also it would have been hard to forecast Haliburton and THT completely falling off the map at the end of the year.
Hopefully Prohm and the team will learn from this year and be better in the future as a result.
Agree with the article 100%. Its also obvious to me that alot of you commenting have never played sports at a high level. Chemistry issues will arise when you know you are a better player and you are forced to watch the game from the bench the first 6 minutes of every half.
Not to mention when you are the better player, lose your spot to no fault of your own, then get put behind two freshman who havent payed their dues yet.
I shouldnt even mention the fact that Prohm publicly came out after the season and apologized at how he handled the situation. Oh, and he pretty much lied to everybody saying Lindell would be put back in the lineup soon. He should have been put back as a starter over TH, he hit the freshman wall about halfway through the Big 12 season and we ended up with 2 guys starting who were the exact same player and had minimal impact on the offensive end.
Overall, Prohm completely botched Wigginton and Lard this year.
When LW has dudes like this in his ear I don’t envy being a college coach of dudes with friends like this.

I was actually tracking with some of what you were saying until the bolded line. Are you saying TH and THT were essentially the same player?
I should note, both of these dudes have Nova Scotia listed in their profiles. One of them is also usually commenting on Iowa State basketball posts on Instagram crapping all over Prohm. When LW has dudes like this in his ear I don’t envy being a college coach of dudes with friends like this.
“But Wigginton's draft stock as undoubtedly dropped as a result of the way he was played.”
That’s wrong.
Like his playing time, his stock dropped as a result of how he played. The NBA guys don’t care about his per game numbers. He came back and slightly improved, but he was the same version of the Wigginton we saw last year.
There's a reason I haven't read the daily since I was attending ISU. It's great for a student newspaper, but it's still a student newspaper. This is where I'm at. This whole article just comes off really REALLY sloppy to me.
Here's a thought-- if Wigginton wasn't playing up to his potential, as many here seem to think, isn't it a coaches job to try to do something to reverse that? Lindell is obviously talented. Maybe some of his struggles were due to his coming off the bench. Some people are great at providing that off the bench energy role, some aren't. So why didn't he at least try a different approach at some point with Wiggy in hopes of getting him going?
I know nothing about Wigginton's ability to be coached, but you cannot simply place blame on Prohm for LW's shortcomings because we don't have all of the details. If LW wasn't going to listen and really, fully accept his role then that would be on him and no one else.
This column lost all its validity with no mention of LW’s defense and how it impacted him not starting and playing more.Sorry if this has been discussed but hadn’t seen it. Feel free to merge if it’s already in another thread.
